Garmin has seemed to up their game with the newest version of Basecamp. Handy feature is that you can now plot in arrival and departure times so you get an ETA of when you would arrive (not counting piss breaks of course). If only they could figure out how to the bloody map updates. Took 5 goes to get mine going. Garmin express is an improvement but still a piece of crap.

Mapsource has always shown journey times, even at my age I can work out from that, given a departure time, when it thinks I will arrive!!!

And my 2610 shows an ETA on the screen based on the actual start time not some hoped for guess. And it updates it as a go along, each old man's wee stop is allowed for.

With Basecamp Garmin have tried to re invent the wheel. Rather than making a better version of Mapsource they have come up with solutions that are often just different rather than better. Yes I know we will eventually have to get to grips with it, it would just be nice if it were something I wanted to learn because it was an obvious big step forward.
