Who has fitted a Motobatt then ? Are there any problems with size and the position of the terminals. cheers, Del

I've fitted Motobatt batteries to other bikes but not my GS yet as it's still on it's original battery after over seven years! Whenit does fail I will definately be fitting one. Size wise I think it's slightly smaller unlike the Odyssey so fitting shouldn't be a problem.

There's no problems with terminals as they have four terminals, one in each corner so you can use it in a number of applications. Starting is definately better on those I have fitted them to, lights are brighter and they don't need constantly hooking up to an optimate.

but there are no dimensions. But i suppose it is listed as suitable for the GS.

Thats the one I bought for my 12GS, one plus point is there's 4 terminals, 2 +ve and 2 -ve which helps wiring in aux stuff.....fitted really easy.....

Badger gave me a tip, put some packing tape or such like around it before inserting, makes it easier if you have to remove it

Correct battery?

Hi guys,
I finally bit the bullet and bought myself a 1200 GSA last weekend. It's the first GSA I've had, but not the first boxer bm, but it seems to struggle to start a little bit. It turns over once, the stops and starts again before running. The battery seems pretty new, but I'm wondering if its the correct one for the bike. It's a bmw YTZ12S MF. So my question is, what battery models are you all using on your GSAs?

If it works properly with jump leads (dont run the donor car/bike engine) the battery is probably failing. An Optimate will top it up but battery capacity falls with age and disuse will stuff a battery very quickly.

I've tried re charging the battery, and its still the same. Looking at the battery, it looks to be the wrong model for the bike, its a 12ah battery and everyone seems to be linking the 14ah ones on this thread.

Padi - get a Motobatt or Odyssey in there and stop the worry.
A knackered battery is a knackered battery.
And (for once I agree with Bendy Toy...) does it start with jump leads ok? If so then definitely the battery.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. I spoke to the dealer, the bikes only a week old to me!, and it turns out its got a battery from an hp2, rather than the GSA one. That'll explains why the battery doesn't quite seem the right size for the whole too! New battery is waiting for me to go and collect it.
