Read a lot of stuff down on BMW Assist and Battersea, so thought my experience's might be of interest.
After waking to sound of theiving scum attacking/hot-wiring my 1150SE back on the morning of the 26th April - I called BMW assist at 6am to get the bike picked up from home (Chiswick) with the hope it could go to Vines (where the bike orginated). Policy is that they take the bike to the nearest dealer - which would be Battersea. Figured that was fair enough... if it was my business I'd do the same. BMW assist were very prompt and helpful, bike was pre-booked for a 7.30 am pick-up at my request. Got a call from the contractor to say he was running late by 15mins. Again, fair enough... North Circular at 7am is never smooth going. Contractor was from SOS, knew his onions and looked after the bike like it was his own.
Called BMW Battersea at 8.30am as the bike rolled in to them. Explained the situation and Matt, who became my contact, said they were stacked, but could access the damage the next day and would have a report/estimate the day after that. Prompt service, they didn't know me from Adam and the bike arrived without prior knowledge.
True to his word... estimate was ready on Friday, £1256 worth - so called BMW Insurance, call picked up by Churchill - young guy on the other end, not best informed but did his best - claim put in - Accessor to visit Battersea. Week later get a call from NIG (part of the same group) requesting Battersea's details... even though guy from Churchill was given Matt's direct line (at Matt's suggestion). Took two weeks for the Accessor to turn-up, then a further week to send the confirmation for work to commence even though they'd said it'd be with Battersea the day after the visit.
Got a call from Matt on the 27th May to say the insurance paperwork was eventually with them and parts were on their way. He was concerned I'd been without the bike so long due to the insurance and although they were booked until the 19th June he'd found a space on the 9th, if he could do better he would. Got another call on June 1st, again from Matt, to say they'd had a cancelation the day before and the bike was going back together and would be ready end of play.
Bikes back - all in working order and I'm happy again. It was a long slog - but down to the insurers not the Dealer - So Battersea get's my vote. Matt did his utmost to get this sorted and in his words 'You must be desperate to get it back". Plenty informative and I feel looked after.
Credit where it's due.
