Charging light goes out when running

Not been used for a couple of weeks, went out this morning & abs lights flashing (Not unusual if not run for a while) rode for a few miles, stopped switched all off and restarted, this usually sorts it, it did, and rode to destination about 15 miles, on leaving the abs lights flashing again, (This is now unusual!) rode around abit for 30 miles, kept stopping to try and reset abs but wouldn't have it.

Got home battery on multimeter direct to terminals = 12v, on optimate = 12v start engine run up to 2000rpm =12v, charging light goes out as usual, analogue basic multimeter, needle drops when cranking but don't move (stays at 12V) when rising rpm to 2000, Engine cranks at normal rate,

Is it possible for battery to not get charge from alternator but light goes out??

Battery cheapo unknown gel type 3 years old 10,000 miles (I didn't fit it)

Any suggestions?

Mark

battery......but you should know that.

cheapo - few years old unknown date installed etc...

Probably on its way out, getting ready to do 'that shameful piggy back lift home'

:D

Must admit I do suspect the battery, and plan to replace, because if its anything like the made in china service items fitted by the last "pro service" it will be total crap and probably not fit for a electric wheelchair :D

But I don't get a voltage rise when increasing revs, but the charge light is out (Bulb OK), that's the question?
