just re taxed the bike and turned over but not starting, cranking voltage to low.Replace the battery and running sweet.
Bloody battery only 5 years and one month old

You should have posted on here first describing how you're only hearing clicks when you press the starter button, yet the LED's on your dash look perfectly bright. Only after one page of replies with people saying to put an Odyssey in and Steptoe saying they're shit are you actually allowed to replace your battery.

Fitted a Newmax ytx14bs sold at the motorfactors where my wife works.12 months warranty and cheap as chips (£25) inc vat but thats trade
can have 4 for the price of an odysey

Quite. 5 Years would be twice my record.
Modern batteries are rubbish.

newer bikes use em harder,
most people just optimate them and think itl last forever,
checkin the level, keepin the terminals clean/tight works wonders,
never really had a battery that failed early,
these bikes use as much as a car almost but with a MUCH smaller battery,
what do people expect?

modern motors (cars and bikes) have to run starter motor /fuel injection system /ignition/system etc all on start up and it is common for the vehicle to turn over fine leading you to think the battery is ok, but there is not enough left for the other systems to function properly and it floods.
Seen it many times (did road side assist for 5 years)

Don`t care how hard modern bikes use them. If I`m spending £11K on a new BMW I expect it to last longer than 2 years...........

Agree. Stick it on the optimate if you're not going to use it for a while. When it finally fails to start your bike, just chuck a new one in.

Now what about tyres?? I bought an 11k bike and my OEM tyres wore out in 5k. My car tyres are still good after 25k........this is an absolute disgrace. I think I'll write to my MP.

Are you seriously suggesting that just because owners spend £11k on their GS`s having to buy a new battery within 2 years should be both financially easy and expected - surely not....!
