Hi,

I have checked the battery and I am not sure if it's smoked.

1,5 h after recharging I have 12,76 V.
I put on the lights the voltage drops to 11.88 V.
The light was on approximately 40s. After that the battery voltage stabilises at 12.68 V.

On the other hand, when I start the bike at temperatures below zero the clock goes blank. The engine doesn't crank fast but it always starts at the first attempt.

What I remember I have the original 14 Ah battery.

How often do you need to replace the battery?

I am grateful for all the help I can get.

Sincerely,
Mikael

I'd say it's near the end of it's use, so get another one ready!

Battery life depends on the number of charge/discharge cycles it's gone through as well as how old it is, so it's vitually impossible to give an accurate life expectancy....

I would also consider an opti-mate type charger , it certainly extends the life of the battery and might even breath some life back into your existing battery.

Ok, thanks for the hints.

I use an opti-mate type charger.
I assume it's the original battery. I haven't replaced it since I bought the bike -04. So, it should be 4 years.

If it`s a lead acid ( wet battery ) then it`ll basically be near the end of its service life after three years,so four years is 'hand in pocket' time....

Also, with you using an Optimate, you need to keep an eye on the electrolyte level,as mine has been low several times on my 1100...in fact, last week I found that my battery was completely dry although the Optimate still gave a green light ... effectively I had a 'dry charged' battery...

A fully charged 12v battery should give a reading of 13-13.5 volts when tested. If after charging with an optimate ( asuming there is liquid in the battery ) your battery doesn't reach this level, it is time for a new one.
