Battle of Flodden 9th September - but we'll need a piper for that one (the boys didn't get a result)
Battle of Otterburn 5th (or 19th depending on which side you were on).
Good idea though!

In the spirit of the op and in keeping with the general view of the thread, without seeking to be thought of as racist or anti-FEB, and I don't mind a wee jaunt to foreign climes, but are not both Flodden and Otterburn in Northumbria?:blast
I only know this to be true 'cos I stay in the Borders of Scotland not too far away from both battle sites (that's not an invitation to lead a ride out to these places) but unless the op is minded to leave this nation of ours, how far does this commemoration go? :nenau
And can we please not go all Jacobite, 'cos they were a shower of........................... (fill in whatever description one wants.):hide

Fair comment, Rev. Both are certainly in the Debatable Lands, but they're just over the Border. I suppose you're right, we'll have to draw a line somewhere.

The Battle of Lostwithiel, anyone?:augie

Your geography does you proud! Just dropped them in to put some locations a little further south. Was there not also some civil war action on Lewis? Now that would be a jaunt for most (but not all :augie).

:D

The idea is turn up at a battlefield on the anniversary of said battle at 1pm if there is someone else there fair enough.:thumb2

That way we can avoid all the last minute call offs sitting outside MacDonalds on the FRB etc etc

Is that not part of the fun for some??

...The call off's that is -no sitting outside- or worse, inside- MacDonalds:rolleyes:

Speakin of MacDonalds. Whit aboot Glencoe?

Edit: cancel. That was a massacre, no' a battle. Same will apply tae Ibrox tae...

battle of Roslin, 24th F.E.B., 8000 scots wasted 24- 30000 FEBs

mibbies still a bit too cauld for some though :blagblah

Excellent idea & thread :bow

Is there any chance of someone posting some grid references or waypoint files (would prefer TomTom if possible) for the battlefields or their parking areas/access points?

Cheers,

Nah.

Sinclair, the Earl of Caithness got stuffed. His men (all from the Keiss region - which is where I live) all turned up pissed and duly got slaughtered by the Campbells.

This fine tradition is still upheld in Keiss every weekend, where everyone gets slaughtered and tries to pick a fight with the only Campbell in the village.:D
