Everywhere and nowhere baby!
I am having a problem downloading/playing anything from BBc Iplayer. Also can't play anything from my D drive - dvd's etc.

Are the two things linked? What should I look for?

Thanks.

can you watch videos from other online sources e.g. youtube?

If not, then the DVD & iplayer problems are probably linked.

Assuming a windows system, then Control panel>system>device manager would be the first port of call. Have a look to see if something is reported as a problem. Running the add new hardware utility might be all that you need to fix the problem.

Run the windows update thingy - click "custom install" & look in the non-essential updates folders as well, for driver & software updates.

Next port of call would be to check the cables inside the PC. Also reseat any memory modules. If you have a separate graphics card then reseat that as well.

I'll try it .....

....thanks Wessie, I tried You Tube and that works.

I'm starting to think that they are unrelated now because I recently had to retrieve a very small ss screw that had worked loose from the laptop that was ratling around inside it. That probably accounts for the D Drive failure.

iPlayer? I'll keep trying and give your suggestions a go.

I really want to watch teh WW1 from the air documentary and can't get it downloaded.

BBC have updated the iplayer recently and when my machine was misbehaving i needed to delete the cookies for it to run.

Beware though - cookies are small files on your computer that contain config information for accessing internet resources - if you delete them all then you may lose login information for other websites (like gser!)
