hello

i am trying to bring back a 77 r100/7 to life again. the bearings and crankshaft has changed but when i tried to measure the end float i had faced a problem. when i tried the old (blue) thrust washers, it was too tight, i could not turn the engine by hand, it stops after a few turns. i undersized the inner washer to red and now the turn was okey. but no end float i could measure... i know the original washers are green red. i am confused, should i use red-red? then wouldn't be to undersized compared to original? how does it affect in future?

thanks...

i guess no one has this type of problem, i would better go and drink some good beer...:beerjug:

Hi,

I am trying to do the same repair in Syria but have not got to your stage yet, sorry I cannot help you at the moment. I don't know how my repair will turn out. The BMW manual says use red - red. There is note saying the end play "can easisly be set up using a red washer on inside and on outside". I don't know if this is correct or not. I was trying to cut and paste the page of the manual on this post but no luck , I will try and get it to you another way.

Cheers

Duncan

thank you duncan,

i have only the clymer manual, will be grateful if you send me the bmw book endfloat page...

without special tools it can be too difficult to do something. i ruined a bearing before because of this... be careful...

Hi Kronos,

It will not paste on to the forum text box, do you have an email address as it pastes onto a word doc ok.
