Thursday
Last night was too damn hot, don’t think it dropped below 35 degrees in my room, fortunately there’s a fan, set it to maximum aimed at me during the night, no sheets, waking every couple of hours sweaty and in need of water.
Up about 7am and a great breakfast to start the day, just about everything on a breakfast buffet, plus plenty of coffee options and juice. Some hardy chums going for a ride, despite the Red weather warning for temperatures above 40 degrees, I along with a number of others opted for a tour of the mining museum in Genk, might not sound much, but it was interesting and much cooler underground. A short lived coal mine, only started in 1914 and closed in 1989, some impressive machinery and experience, lots of interactive stuff including a virtual reality tour.
Lunch just across from the museum, more chat, trying to stay off the beer until later as lunchtime drinking doesn’t agree with me, especially when hot, a nice pasta carbonara, followed by a snooze when back, a shower and pre dinner drinks in the garden.
Dinner tonight was a cheesy rissole thing, followed by grilled salmon with potato and asparagus, then a dessert so sickly sweet it was almost too much. We had entertainment this evening, scantily clad dancing girls and an African drum and trumpet band, very impressive, some of my older friends had to be restrained from joining in least their hearts gave out, no I didn’t join either.
