Beer, chocolate and chips - off to Belgium

The air you are moving through is (as its name suggests) at ambient air temperature. Other than through evaporation, you are not getting much cooling effect. It’s about the only thing that mesh does. Shade and water (to replace the litres that you’ll sweat out) are the only reliable coolant.
And add some rehydration tablets as water alone in that heat may not be enough

but what are rehydration tablets?
Dioralyte are the brand I used to liberate from the supply/medical department when away in sunny climes....

apologies for the dumb question....but what are rehydration tablets?
Tablets that rehydrate you 🤦‍♂️

Just bought some for Himalayas trip .

Just drop one in a bottle of water . Puts salts and other shit back in your system

Riding in India in 40 degrees+, I was thankful everyday for the 3 litre camelback I bought from Mountain Warehouse outlet for around fifteen quid. Absolute life saver in those temperatures.

Voice of dissent here.
I have one and it's more trouble than it's worth.
I've tried using it on the bike and in the car without much success.
It's never worked with the car and on the one occasion it worked with the bike I got charged at 'car' rate. I contacted the card supplier numerous times as soon as I got the bill and was ignored each time.
I've given up with the blessed thing.

Edit: I fact I've had more success with my tarp than I have with the blipper.
Which supplier did you use? Mine have been faultless across France and Spain, and the French one has always charged me the correct rate when I swap it between car and bike. (The Spanish one is vehicle specific so can't be used on the bike.) Stuck on the windscreen for the car or just in a top jacket pocket on the bike. Mine come from Emovis.

Fulli.

APRR/Fulli has mostly worked fine for me since 2018, France, Spain & Portugal. Always charged the correct class. ANPR worked in Portugal. On the Guzzi I have it in the tank bag, front right corner where they provide a handy elastic retainer to hold it in position. They sent me a new device last year with newer technology. This has worked fine in Spain last year on a very wet day where I abandoned the mountain route and France this year from St Omer to Cambrai.

One failed transaction on one of the M roads that get you around the north of Madrid. Fortunately only a half barrier so did a runner. Maybe bikes were supposed to be free?

Definitely get yourself a camelback or similar. They sell them in decathlon. Then you can drink continuously on the bike without stopping and getting hot. It makes a really big difference. Klim to a Gucci one too but it’s expensive

Thursday

Last night was too damn hot, don’t think it dropped below 35 degrees in my room, fortunately there’s a fan, set it to maximum aimed at me during the night, no sheets, waking every couple of hours sweaty and in need of water.

Up about 7am and a great breakfast to start the day, just about everything on a breakfast buffet, plus plenty of coffee options and juice. Some hardy chums going for a ride, despite the Red weather warning for temperatures above 40 degrees, I along with a number of others opted for a tour of the mining museum in Genk, might not sound much, but it was interesting and much cooler underground. A short lived coal mine, only started in 1914 and closed in 1989, some impressive machinery and experience, lots of interactive stuff including a virtual reality tour.

Lunch just across from the museum, more chat, trying to stay off the beer until later as lunchtime drinking doesn’t agree with me, especially when hot, a nice pasta carbonara, followed by a snooze when back, a shower and pre dinner drinks in the garden.

Dinner tonight was a cheesy rissole thing, followed by grilled salmon with potato and asparagus, then a dessert so sickly sweet it was almost too much. We had entertainment this evening, scantily clad dancing girls and an African drum and trumpet band, very impressive, some of my older friends had to be restrained from joining in least their hearts gave out, no I didn’t join either.
