Renewal in from Bemoto, policy itself cheaper than last year (higher excess) but with addition of titanium package more expensive, just have to decide as to its worth. Enquired about the discount (£20) initially offered to ukgser members in the first post by Dean Mawby but apparently this is no longer applicable. Maybe Dean should post up that this is now the case. Anyhoo, very helpful advisor so time enough yet to make a decision.

Hi guys just an update, the titanium bundle is £10 off, it is worth £40 not £30 like it was in 2019, so we will knock £10 off the price for you.

Thanks
Dean

Emailed Dean direct with a query on this and he has responded immediately, great service as far as I'm concerned. They will get my money for another year.:thumb2

Hi Guys

Just an update, I am sadly leaving bemoto today, so will not be here to answer any queries, however I have passed the details to the manager to appoint someone to take over this account and they will be able to assist in anything you need. As per usual be sure to give us a call if you need a quote as we will be happy to help and get you a cracking deal. Thank you

Dean

Best of luck with the future Dean .... and thanks for your past help.

Unfortunately having to let go of Bemoto myself. They can't get anywhere near in insuring the new Honda CT125 Hunter Cub I get next month :blast

:beerjug:

My renewal through today up by over £50 , will be ringing on Monday as I reckon they were taking the p*ss last year and are even worse this year

Tried to get an insurance quote today, :D:D

but it would appear that the website cant do maths

How many years NCB do you currently have = 9+ years

How long have you had your bike licence 7 years

!! Error you cant have 9years NCB if you've only had your licence 7 years ... !!!

Hmmm so what insurance did i have when i was riding on a provisional licence then ???

[

I past my test at 16 in 1970 but according to all insurance sites I have to put 72 in as they won’t allow 1970. No ideal

Mine went up a lot last year, even though I had dropped to one bike so I changed to bikesure saved around £120 if I recall.

My renewal came through last week and it had come down from £521 to £400. I checked online and it was £298.

After phoning them up they offered to reduce it to £357 and then became very argumentative about the online price.

I’ve just taken out a policy with BMW Insurance (Devitts) for £266 instead….

Saved £120, lol they were pleased to give me a quote for £1200 as if !

well the way i see it with bemoto,is if you have one bike a price comparison website is best for price, but two or more bikes bemoto seem to be fair with price on a multibike policy.
to be honest i insured my r1250gs,k1600gt,r1150rt for 550 quid with bemoto,i was happy with that, carol nash wanted 900 quid.

Again this year a disparity came up using comparison websites...
You do the usual and put reg no in, in my case a 2009 R1200GS comes up, all good, but it has a stated engine capacity of 1198cc.

I have had this on both this and previous 2005 GS, each time I have advised that it should be 1170cc. In one case it meant that one company pulled it's quote, presumably because they thought it was a modified bike!

This year again, trying confused.com, it is possible to select either of the capacities so for shits and giggles, I ran both, same reg no, alternate capacities.
Result is for the correct capacity, in every case bar one, the premium is more expensive for the 1170cc. By up to 14%!!

Am I wrong?, is the capacity not 1170cc?, or is it a way for them to 'wriggle' if you put in the wrong (but default) capacity?

Personally, I would not worry. They error is evidently the database and if the details associated with your registration number are incorrect by 28cc then I doubt an underwriter is going to pull the contract. The underwriter would need to demonstrate that the difference (a deficit of 28cc) was a contributory factor to the cause of a claim or that you deliberately misrepresented the details of the bike. How many people would know the precise cc of the bike? Most owners would think it would be 1200cc or very close to that and assume the database to be correct.

Insurance is not a mystery, it is a contract that works like any other contract. If there are weasel words or ambiguity, they can be challenged.

Don’t fret about it. The insurer really doesn’t care. Not least, don’t ring up to debate it with the call centre chimp.

If it makes you happy, my 1600 GT has a cubic capacity of 1649 cc, according to BMW’s website. That is a whole 50cc moped grafted on, the little scamps. I don’t doubt that BMW are correct. I am not about to tell my insurer that it is anything but a 1600.

My 30th anniversary GS comes up as a GSA on the insurers database, I’ve mentioned the error but no change has been made. It’s not a GSA on my logbook so goodness knows where they get their info from?

Thanks, I struggle to overcome my ADHD where these things are concerned. Strange that the premiums vary depending on which GS one selects...

Feeling Bemoto are slipping, last year had to chase them for my renewal premium, eventually got it a week before my policy expired.
2 weeks to go and nothing.

Conversely, the reg number on my 2013 GSA comes up as 30th Anniversary, how does that work then ?
