Yahoo:clap:clap:clap flip came round and with a bit of help from daz the man she now runs. He even did a nice job sorting out the plate of spaghetti that was the wiring loom.

Now just need to work out how to rebuild the bean can that you took to bits and looks like it may not be recoverable without the aid of a micro surgeon :D

If anyone has an old points bean can knocking around that they dont want, I'll swop you a nice office paper weight :blast:blast:blast

Thanks brov, your help is much appreciated, just need to work out how to fit the boyson ignition unit to a disassembled bean can.

Much thanks to dazzle who is the bees knees at turning the sows ear of a wiring loom into something resembling a bandaged sows ear.

Muchos thankarse to guru Rob too, you have the patience of a saint sir :clap

Lastly, many many thanks to my good friend Mick who lent me the aformentioned working bean can. I will eventually return it matey, promise :thumb

Seriously though, if anyone has a 79-80 bean can with points that they don't want, please let me know :bow:bow:bow

Your bikes a 93?

Flip,

I've got a points bean can. Was your old bean can wrecked during it's open heart surgery yesterday? If it's all there I'll swap it for my points unit.

Rob, it's not wrecked, just in a million pieces :D:D

As is my way, I'm just looking for the easy option :augie:augie:augie

Looks like this, but less organised :D:D

Parts ordered :thumb

Managed to pick up a points bean can and the Boyer ignition for less than the price of an exchange bean can, so we'll give it a go.

Rob, if it all works ok, you are more than welcome to the bag of bits containing the old bean can :thumb

Thanks brov, Daz is d man!!

Wiring actually looks like a wiring loom, all the bad connections removed and new electronic ignition installed. Just need a strobe light now to time it up properly.

Took bertha for mot today

And she flew through:clap only one advisory about a small about play in the rear wheel but hey is no worse than a 1200. Flip just needs to sort the tickover as its a bit high but other than that she's fine. Pulls like a train in all gears with no flat spots and rides really nice.
Hopefully dad would be happy that she's almost back on the road.

Cheers dude, Uncle Rob is shitting himself now waiting for a phone call, lol.

Buggery bugger

Well, the trauma continues:blast flip came round and after a bit of fettling with a strobe light Bertha was running like a dream. So flip setts off and within 45 minutes Bertha dies by the roadside. Seems like charging system has packed up.

Well my ears still ringing. At least Flips still got a sense of humour :D

Start here Phil with the quick test (4.10) you will just need a jumper wire.
