Best photos yet of the new R1300GSA

OMFG

Have you seen the two weld joints on the tank, just in front of the rider seat.

A varicose vein right where you see it. I am stunned!
I know what you mean, but it wouldn`t bother me too much.
At least it is a nice, visually attractive Tig weld not the Mig weld spatter that bikes had years ago on their frames.
BMW`s thinking on letting it remain visable might be either laziness, thinking it isn`t an issue or maybe they think it adds a little to the bikes utilitarian character?

I`m coming around to the new GSA.
I know looks are important but are we all dismissing this bike on aesthetics alone?
What if it rides beautifully, has supreme comfort, a willing and sublime engine character and has all the attention to detail that enables day-today riding and touring an efficient, satisfying easy pleasure?
Is it still not going to sell because of it`s looks?
I try not to place too much emphasis on the visuals but i still fucking hate that headlight and a few other details look either clumsy or toy-ish, the oversized Fisher Price bag attatchment points on the toaster panels and the luggage racks for instance. Anyone know if they are plastic or cast alluminium? Placky, probably...

Also, if this new `Robo 2000` styling direction does not take off i think the 1300GSA is going to look like a very odd and a failed styling exercise in a few years...

Those tank weld joints also seen at Garmisch ;

Didn’t notice it at the time.

but i still fucking hate that headlight
I kinda got the reason for the asymetrical design where it looked like the light was squinting at you on the previous generations - but I absolutely agree about this light on the 1300 - nothing about it makes sense - the discussion must have been something like:
A: 'wouldn't an 'X' look cool as a light'
B: 'yeah, but what about the field of view of the light pattern?'
A: just bend that X a bit, no one will notice
B: man, that looks shit
A: you mean quirky! Like the lights on the first s1000r and the original K bikes.......people will accept it
B: mmm......if you are sure!

Personally if I'm going to potentially splurge £25+k of my hard-earned on my next bike then I shouldn't have to try too hard to accept the appearance, even though technically it may be better than the preceding model. There's just too much that jars visually on the new GSA - I could accept just one or two of the "styling cues" (and frankly the headlight doesn't really bother me - look at the KTMs) but when taken all together the new bike just looks like someone took a pile of ideas and threw them together. I was planning to replace my 1200GSA in a year or so and was sort of looking forward to trying the new GSA with all that it could offer over the 1250 but I'm beginning to wish that the older model would have still been around when the time comes for me to make the change.

Welds on a Ti exhaust: Wow super cool
Welds on an Alu gas tank: Ugghh

At first I thought I needed some eye bleach as it's so hideous but on a Saturday night with my beer goggles on....

Even if I could see past the Robocop/Lego aesthetics (and I can't), what I can't see past is the cost. For the price of a nicely spec'd 1300GSA, I could easily afford both a good used 1250GSA, fully loaded AND a low miles 1250RS (that or a tidy low miles 1200RT Le). I know which route I'd take...

Gentlemen....the word you’re looking for is ‘hideous’.

But it is different.
I'm afraid I have to disagree with you there. "Hideous" really ought to be preceded by "F*cking".

I'm not a fan of the 1300 particularly, but that green and yellow paint job is quite striking.

Reactions: G&T
There is a triple black R1300 GS Adventure in Lind, Welwyn Gdn City at the mo. It’s under cover and apparently embargoed until Sat morning when it’s revealed.

Yes I did get a look at it.

Yes I did take a quick pic.

And I promised not to publish it until Sat.

It is definitely much better in Triple Black compared to the Playmobile red and silver.

But I’m still not keen.

Took a peek at the Bahnstormer one today, and sat on it…feels as big as my Goldwing 😵
