HI All

Having joined the RS SE club, thought I'd share thoughts so far.

Love the bike! My once a week commute is about 180 miles round trip, all year riding, so I like my creature comforts. The seat and riding position are perfect for me - slightly leaned forward but not cramped. The power delivery is fantastic, very linear but still keeping the 2 cylinder character. Only used Road and Dynamic so far, will give it a while before trying Pro. The heated grips and seat both work brilliantly.
Have added a Powerbronze touring screen (not in this pic), a Givi tank ring and SW-Motech cylinder guards. Managed to test the latter on day one of riding by a slow-speed drop on a very muddy stretch of roadworks! Only damage was to the guard, not so much as a scratch on any other part of the bike! I, on the other hand, looked like a mud monster but that washed off...

Also added some cheapo handguards that have been on several bikes. They are bar-end fixing, £15 specials from Ali Express about 10 years ago, might be held together with duct tape, but they fit even on full lock. Had to drill the ends out to take the M10 bolt so will update if they stay on.

Waiting delivery of the Givi top box plate and adaptor to complete the set. Note to anyone waiting for the 'article in manufacturing' note to be lifted on the Givi website - all of the RS stuff is freely available from EU suppliers (Louis Moto, Motocard etc.).

Spoke with MotoScan and established that the ODB unit will work using the r1300 GS program (updated in the app) so that's a minor cost saving if you already have one of the units and app/

More updates and daft questions later :D

Forgot to say, this was an ex-demo with 600 miles on the clock. Not a massive cost saving but I really hate running bikes in...

Beautiful looking bike that.

I've got a rear mudsling and a decent Wunderlich tank bag if you're interested

I have a 22 RS. I love the bike for sure. I put the rear tire hugger on, and the bar risers. Also got all the bags for it too while i could. Puig touring plus screen which i thought i would take off and run the stock screen in the summer but I just got used to the bigger screen. The screen is better than my stock GS for wing protection imo. As far as the risers, when I turned around to check the lane beside me, I would inadvertently pull on the steering, but not with the risers. It still has that ready feel as the risers don't move the bar that much ..... welcome and enjoy your flashy RS ....

If the rear hugger is the Puig type be careful to keep an eye on it as they're prone to breaking because they are only fixed to the bike on 1 side. IIRC @wessie had problems with his?

I've got bar risers and the same puig screen on mine, plus the 790mm seat and touring bar end weights to help with tingly fingers

Yes, the strut had cracked on the larger bolt so it was only being held on by the smaller, brake caliper bolt.

Puig are listing a different part no. for the R1300RS
says in development so hopefully an improved design

Yes the hugger only connects to the one side or mine anyway. One should also check the bolts that come with the hugger kit for tightness, often. These have been known to come loose and cause some big problems. But I like the fact that they do keep water off the electronics and it seems that something like this should have been fitted from the factory imo.
As far as the screen, when riding out in the great plains it is not a bad idea to have that for safety protection from many possibilities ... Like say hail and rocks, even pieces of metal, bird strikes. I once had some one chuck a beer bottle at me coming from the other direction and it was a great sky hook shot and crashed into the windjammer III I had on the /5. Nothing happened though and the bottle did't even break. Michelob bottles are very tough ... I would like have some handguards too but the semi-clip on bars make that difficult ..... And I do have a tank ring for various tank bags ...

Thanks Mallard. I'm good for tank bags (Givi tank ring - saves a fortune!). Didn't realise the mudsling was available for the 1300RS?

As I'm joining the R1300RS club I think it would be a perfect time for everyone to update this thread and post details of your favourite accessories (Bravo.... if you happen along, bike related accessories only here;-)

My 30 year old Givi topbox with stickers. Young chap at A&D was admiring the stickers it has that evidences some trips over the decades. The Timmelsjoch one fell off recently so need to go back.
Spend money on trips not bling.

Got fed up with looking in the mirrors and seeing the Givi V47 top box (past the view of my elbows) so changed to the aerodynamically-challenged, Givi Alaska case. Only 44 litres but have to make a real effort to see it in the mirrors and it's massively more practical shape for luggage!

Enjoy your new bike dearest, send me some photos when you get it,keep your clothes this time not like the ones when you got your XR.

Added some sticky bits and some pretty bits

Eazigrip Pro tank grips - grippy enough to stop unwanted sliding but without gluing you to the tank!

And some top box linings - should stop things rattling around in there and only 11 quid from Ali Express. They're the ones for the Givi Trekker 42l, even though this is the Alaska 44l...
