Best 'tool' to clean the cooling fins?

Yesterday I rode past Loncliffe Quarry (which I've done many times before) and they'd dragged loads of dust and powder onto the road which they'd then tried to clean but instead created a kind of slurry, needless to say it got all over the bike. I thought I'd give it a wash down as I believe they make a lot of calcium carbonate and lime which I doubt would be very good for the bike, but my god are there loads of awkward places to clean on the 1250 GSA

Anyway, one of the more difficult places to clean was between the cooling fins on the engine blocks, has anyone found a good shaped sponge or brush or something to make this easier, I struggle to get my sausage fingers in there due to the engine guards? I know Harley do a cleaning set to get into the engine fins but I'm not prepared to pay £36 for 3 brushes I've got 'wheel' brushes but they don't seem to get into all the corners.

Cheap paint brush 1 inch or half inch, a couple of quid in a hardware. If you can get a small detailing brush for cars, go for boars hair I find it great but the paint brush will do it too

The wooden stirring spoons from McDonald's are about the right width with just maybe a thin bit cloth on end.
Not my idea read it somewhere maybe even on this site

I bought a cheap set of 5 detailing brushes of Amazon, sizes small to medium gets in to most places on the gs with out scratching any finish , think they were about £9.
Be weary if using paint brushes as the bristles are usually held in by a metal band & can easily cause scratches.

Toolstation have a 2 inch long handled paint brush with and an angled head for a couple of quid.

Gaffa tape around the metal banding and your good to go. it worked really well on my GSA in most of the nooks and crannies, including the fins, and even did a decent job around the spokes.

It's the brush in the top that gets into the fins.

I've also used a couple of these. The Muc Off one is better but they aren't bad and they are cheap. It's a blind cleaning brush from Dunelm.

I often use old tooth brushes or dish washing brushes.
