Having just had my travel insurance renewal come through from Saga going up from £500 to £750 I will look elsewhere thank you.
Any recommendations on here for good deals on travel insurance for the over 60’s?
Tia.

Depending on your medical history have you vonsideted swapping your current account to Nationwide? Their FlexPlus account costs £13 a month anx you get free travel insurance that includes winter sports as well as mobile insurance for the family living at your address and roadside rescue for the policy holder (so I added SWMBO to mine so we both get it) They do charge for known medical conditions and repeat meds but it might be worth you giving them a call and getting a quote.

We have been with Staysure for a few years now.

Premiums actually went down this year.

They are good with pre existing conditions.

Over 50?

Want travel insurance on a motorbike over 1cc?

Go fuck yourself unless you have the spending power of Elon Musk....

Part of why some of us are looking at wobbly boxes for international travel now.

We had the best of times but were the last generation to travel as far as we liked, as fast as we liked.

Glad I took advantage of it while I could.

For bucket n spade travel we use a company called “ ALL CLEAR” - they are specialist providers who will take on health impaired clients ( providing one is completely honest about all conditions - like most insurance )
About £300 for an annual policy for 2 crumblies 😂

I find it really strange that at the time in your life when you have retired and have time to travel, you are penalised for doing so, through expensive insurance. Surely they must insure enough younger persons who have no health issues, therefore never claim, for there to be enough in the pot to cover us old duffers? I thought that was how it was supposed to work.

I hate insurance companies and will not bother if I start to travel again, I would rather die than not be able to travel, after all, the World is ours, for all, we are from here, so fuck `em.

That's pretty good.

Does it cover motorbike insurance though? (I kinda doubt it but...)

I tried carol nash because I wanted to use the bike abroad as well as driving a car they wanted 350 quid for a multi trip plan .I was able to get same cover through insure and go for £ 144 .as with any insurance the proof of weather it’s good or not comes when you have to claim.

I have used the Nationwide Flexplus account with the included travel/mbl/recovery insurance for several years, it used to be very reasonable until I hit 70 then the ‘upgrades’ as they so generously call them (or excess to we mortals) start to bite. I paid an additional £330 last year on top of the monthly £15 account fee, which all starts to add up.
However, the previous insurer UK Insurance has now been replaced by Aviva (I think) and there is no excees for we over-70’s, but I’ve yet to receive a quote on what excess they’re likely to charge for our ailments.

The young generally kill themselves or, much more expensively, injure themselves jumping off balconies. They also, just like everyone does, always somehow lose that Rolex they bought…..

Well, you would say that.

I have a Lloyds Bank account that provides worldwide travel insurance, mobile phone and AA cover. It's about £20 pm and they cover quite a few health conditions at no extra cost which is helpful when you're 65+.

The catch is, bike cover is only valid if you don't have any points on your licence!

Well, you would say that.

I made it up :augie

I mean, how likely would it be that young people do incredibly stupid things? Of course they don’t. And as for people putting in inflated and / or fraudulent travel claims? That cannot possibly happen, as it would be very dishonest and fraudulent. That never happens, no sir.

Does the Insure & Go one give you repatriation?

The devil is in the detail with a lot of these policies. Many won't cover bikes over 125 at all.
With the policy I bought I specify asked for cover while touring on bike over 125 this was covered under hazardous activities as to repatriation I will have to look closer .

I think Liverpool Victoria exclude any claim related to injury caused by balcony or walls.

Steptoe will tell you the story of the customer of his, who was killed abroad without insurance. His wife and family, back home in England, were left in, shall we say, ‘difficult’ circumstances.

Of course, it is quite possible that you won’t die on your jaunts. But, instead you’ll simply be painfully or dangerously taken ill or injured, left with just the medical bills to pay. But hey, you are rich (all that interest from your bank accounts you were telling us about) or you’ll just say “Fuck them” and do a runner, on your one remaining leg.
