Better than a V47 ?

We got two people's stuff for a long weekend away just in the top box. Or you can get both full face helmets and gloves inside no problem if your just out for a bimble.

Yes they are cheaper for a reason, not nearly so well made and I’m not sure if they do Monokey.

Wrong . They are exactly the same quality , made in the same Givi factory and the bases are exactly the same so Monolock & Monokey ranges , same plates , same keys , locks , buttons etc :thumb

You can also buy high security locks for most of the Givi / Kappa boxes . If you were considering one of the metal boxes then Givi only do the Outback in 42L & 58L but they do the identical KVenture box in 48L which might closer be the size you want ?

I’m currently trying to decide between the Garda 52L in black and the K Venture 48L In anodised Black.

Yes i had one on my GSA back in the day and it was totally waterproof, even with a rack on top of it. BTW it looks like they are different designs, maybe your one was an earlier version than mine.:nenau:D

Mine was the slightly smaller version which could be used as a top loading pannier too. I think it leaked through the additional hinge in the lid

Stick with the V47, reliable, waterproof, robust who cares what it looks like, you cannot see it when riding. I dropped my last bike with it on, saved loads of damage to the bike just a small scratch on the top box. Good bit of kit

Just a minor point , but having a large top box may for some encourage over loading which in turn makes the bike unstable and at best dangerous.
Pack low with side bags and put light weight stuff , waterproofs , shoes , paperwork etc in the top box to keep the bike balanced. IMHO of course.

Yes thats good advice, think i will stick with what i have just now. Cant justify spending £300 on replacing what i already have.

Nice boxes but even more expensive than the Trekker Outback !!:blast

Problem is its only months old and i wouldnt get a good enough price to justify swapping it over ;)

You don't want to swap. You want both.

For every day riding the BMW 35l is large enough. However, every now and then the extra space, such as holding two helmets or other riding gear, is required. Also, if bringing Mrs along, the larger box offers a better back rest and more roomy space for the pillion. You just have to explain to her that you do it only for her benefit 😁

+1

All my luggage goes in side panniers... I weigh them evenly.

Top box is empty, and I then use it to hold my helmet, gloves, jacket when stopped on a break/walkabout.

I use a pillion plate and Kriega OS-18 to store Airman pump, tyre repair kit, chain security.

Christ, i couldn't put my security chain in the topbox, it weighs a bloody ton ! 2M Pragmasis 19mm uncropable jobby :rob:green gri

Le Mans Top Box ?

I was slightly concerned by this at the LeMans MotoGP this year.

I have the Givi 58L and it works for us, we added the GIVI S410 and it really works well when lugging things into hotels.
