I'm recently back on a GSA LC after a year on a GAYTM 1290.

The GAYTM was a good bike in so many ways , but fook me , this GSA is just a brilliant machine.

I've had my first proper run around the dales today since I got it, what amazes me is how can it handle so well, be as agile as it is with 30 litres of juice in it and an 18 stone tosser in control?

To say I'm impressed with it is an understament . Roll on longer days!:thumb2

You dont miss the 160 HP ? Many of us here trying to make a deal on a KTM ......

BMW do make a very good motorcycle . Just wish the GS could be a bit more reliable though , after hearing alot of stories over the past few years

That's the problem, you're hearing stories.;)

13,000 miles on my GSA and no problems at all.

Reliability is NOT the issue . The dealers are outstanding. You couldnt improve them !

However, the bike is oh so capable ...but; we all know this, (though half of you wont admit it ) ...UNEXCITING.

The 1290 is a gem of a motor without doubt, infact that's why I bought it , but the GSA is equally as much fun on the twisties, and I would say better on the motorway, it's not as full on .
I did 11k in a year on the KTM , would I buy another....?...... No, residuals are shocking, even with the Vat off the new /old stock they will still drop like a stone in value. The new SA is £700 cleaper than the old stock was!. Dealer knowledge is minimal , I found this out after I ran out of fuel for the second time. There's a tap on each side of the fuel tank, one of which was closed, so after 2 visits to the main dealer and a new pick up pipe later did they realise it needed opening!
IMHO they are not particularly well screwed together . I know the GSA have their issues, but could you see KTM changing a full engine and drive system because of corrosion, not a chance. They really don't give a shit when they've got your business.

I wish that had sorted it out but didn't look back since 2009 . So you think they are good now with no issues ?

Not at all. There are issues, but if you base the reliability of a bike purely by what you read online, you're missing out on a great bike.

"There are issues "
That doesn't do anything for my anxiety !!

If I drove planes all day I don't think I would find any bike exciting :D
