Bigger Tank on a Standard GS?

I also have the low seat option (it REALLY is uncomfortable - like sitting on a plank of wood made out of concrete) on my 1150 due to a deficiency in the length of leg department (5'6" - me that is, NOT my legs).

Is this the catch 22 syndrome that you get a numb arse cos we've got short, stubby, bloody legs?
I don't fancy the idea of having no feeling in the arse department for hundreds of miles across Canada, the local shops, fine. Is there such a thing then a comfortable low seat?

Numb Bum

There aren't any options for a comfortable low seat. Technicians at my B*W dealer always moan about my seat when they take mine for a test ride. If it's any consolation (and it's isn't) the original seat isn't a big improvement - hence all the aftermarket options. Any improvement in comfort usually requires extra 'inches' to be added to the seat.

To be honest i've more or less got used to my 'plank' now. I do get a numb a*se but can readily make it to 200 miles without undue problems. Have to see what difference a 33L tank will make as to the reasons for stopping.

If you have short legs you either have to accept the numb bum or get used to riding the bike without being able to touch the ground if/when you need to. Some people (LittleRedRooster??) are happy with the latter. My slow speed bike control isn't that brilliant at the moment though, so feet on the ground is an essential option for me.

If anyone does know of comfortable, LOW seat options i'd love to know,

Hopefully (fingers crossed) just managed to nab myself a GSA 33l tank

must have been an amazing accident if the tank volume has gone up three litres. Esplosion?;)

Bob,
My dealer told me that the large tanks on the Adventure are 32 litres, but are only 30 litre usable! I've also seen it printed on the Belgian importers accessory price list  .

Just got back from Bath Road B*W looking to buy the new Blue and White GS in the window.

Conversation with salesgentleman has me pondering a problem.
Having read many discussions on this site about tanks I was of the understanding that you could swop a large tank for the standard 22L one. Sales chappie says no!
He also stipulated that you could not request a bigger tank when ordering new. Yes or No?
He also said they had NOT stopped making the 1150. I'm sure you lot have said different and don't belive that B*W would still be building a bike they intend to not sell when the new one arrives in a few months.

Tell me the truth please.........................

(No, the other one)

After a crash last summer on my standard GS, the insurance company replaced my tank. I paid the difference to have it replace with the adventurer tank. everything on the inside of the tank is the same. the only difference is the adv. tank requires a hose to connect both sides of the tank (another benefit)

Down under (here) they (bm OZ) have released ... a GS with the bigger tank standard. Must have been a few askin for it..

If you want somethin extra/different on somthin your buying and the salesman says "No" find another salesman... it is your money and they want the money ..

Me? Well the next new motorcycle must have -
warrenty for 3 years or more
free services for that time
set of spares ... cables, filters .. things like that

If they don't want my money .. well I'll buy second hand for a lot less and then buy the parts else wheres...
