Bike Camera's

Xmas Spirit, whether or not the dozy sods in their metal boxes have had too much of the Xmas spirit or they simply have other things going through their minds I don't know but was nearly taken out twice despite being nearly 17 stone with big Hi-Vis vest on, LED Running lights etc.
Now fitted two Road Hawk bullet camera's, one at each end and permanently hard-wired to bike as in the past I have had Go Pro etc and forgot to switch it on.
Recording quality seems good and they are quite unobtrusive so may get left alone by the light-fingered brigade

I take your point but in my opinion if it does go tits up, better to have evidence of the event, and before anyone states the obvious, I know if it is the riders fault it may go against you but there is always a delete function!
Quality for general video is good to upload for general viewing on ipad etc

Some of you seem to be missing the point or just being obtuse for the sake of it.

If an accident occurs, a camera may provide evidence that proves what happened. How many times have you heard of cases where someone admits it was their fault, only to deny it later on. I have heard of such cases where the insurance company will deny liability, believing their client, only to cave in when presented with the evidence from an on board camera.

I concur, driver behaviour is different when they see a camera on a helmet. (sounds wrong!)

you really have to be on 100% alert mode and expect every car to pull out. trouble is it makes riding a bike hard work in built up areas. Unless careless drivers are SERIOUSLY punished then driver behaviour will not improve. In my view a license is not a right but a privilege and if you endanger others due to being careless/stupid then 6 points and 12 week driving ban should be the minimum.

One of my van drivers reversed into an oncoming motorcycle at low speed. biker was ok, police called. driver admitted it was his fault - no police action taken!

The trick, a mate tells me, is to hoon up the junction, gesticulating wildly (and very aggressively) at the Box Brownie strapped to your melon case. Then... and only then, swerve around the car's front bumper, kicking out wiv yer Motocross boots. Then hoon on, shaking your head.

You only need one to make it worthwhile.

I was recently shunted from behind into a parked vehicle and the offending party failed to stop.

The video has so far resulted in the 3rd party being reported for failing to stop.

I compare the onboard camera to an insurance policy its there constantly but you may never require it.

They notice you have a camera attached to you/your bike....--or they notice it is actually on showing a blinking recording light..Must be really close...Q the "how Do I power a camera questions and have you got a lockable mount for it.."
