Any ideas on this issue? 1200GSA engine cuts out randomly, when applying gas to pull away. Bike is new, with 600 miles. Booked for first service next week. Remus headers and Akro can fitted by dealer prior to collection.

For example, slow down for a roundabout, feet up & clutch in, with option of stopping or going. See a gap, commit to going whilst rolling forwards and accelerating at same time. Engine dies, leaving me exposed having rolled into a closing gap ! :blast. Seems to be related to quick removal of load from engine.

Bike has done it from day I picked it up...

Spoken to two dealers service depts and both said they hadn't heard of that before. One reckoned the throttle bodies needed balancing, the other said no not that, its likely the valve clearances. At least I didn't get the usual "they all do that sir" !

Any ideas?

[Serious comments only pls]

Thks for the link Big Nick. Sounds spookily familiar, although all these issues relate to the 800GS as opposed to the 1200GS. One of the dealers I spoke to did mention there was a software update for the 800GS, but was pretty sure that as mine was a 1st March 09 bike, it would have the latest s/w.

Both my 04 and 07 12GSs have done a similar thing i.e. dip clutch at junction and it can die when rolling back on or blipping the throttle. The incidence of this is probably once every 1500 miles, so I don't worry.

Mine does it too, 08GSA. I'm ready for it and give it a hint of gas to save the stall, not ideal.

My '06 GSA never did it. Frankly, I find it quite dangerous on my '09 GSA. How often does it happen you yours Harry?

Are you running with the baffle in or out ? The guys at Vines told me the 08 doesn't run so well with the baffle removed with the Akro. Might be worth putting it back to see if it cures the problem assuming you're removed it.

I have an 08 GSA (10500 miles). Remus can (baffle in), Y piece and K+N and every now and then she will stall whilst filtering in 2nd and then trying to but power on. Also when going on a spirited ride and then suddenly pulling up at a junction ready to pull away quickly she may stall.
It does not happen all of the time and again I have just learnt to live with it as like I say it does it so little. I just put it down to the fact she is a big twin that is close to it's top tune state and now and again the fuelling gets a bit confused! :beerjug:

Did post the issue on here once and had a similar fed back to what your getting.:)

Just thought I'd post an update on the cutting out problem on my bike.

It had the first service at 800 miles, and cut out 2-3 times in the next 200 miles.

Hasn't done it again since.

The bike now has >3,000 miles on it.

So the hiccups disappeared after the first 1,000 miles. Seems to be something to do with breaking it in. I just hope I'm right !!!

Yep, and the bike never did it again right up to the point it got stolen at 20,000 miles when it was just under two years old.

Bought a brand new GSA in April 2011 and this one has not cut out yet, in the 5,000 miles its done so far.

Did you also have a Remus/Akra fitted when new??

NB.
I had the same stalling issues on my 09 GSA during the first 1000 miles.
I was told It was due to the ECU recalibrating itself to the de-cat exhaust.
