Big shout out for Ian Joyce at Bike Motor Works in Grendon. Had the big 24k service done on my R1100GS by Ian and the bike is running beautifully. He spent some time with me going through what he'd done and gave some pointers on keeping the bike in good running order. Ian is an ex Wollaston BMW mechanic who set up on his own some years ago. Whist I was collecting the bike I chatted to a fellow R11GS rider who has used Ian and his team for many years and won't go anywher else. Though he specialises in BMW (he had a couple of 1150GS's and some other Beemers in the workshop) he works on all makes of bikes and has some classic Jap bikes as well.
If your looking for an independent specialist in the Northamptonshire area give him a try.

Top mechanic who is excellent with BMW'S and also most other makes of bikes....definitely worth a call.

I’m 2k into my 2018 1200SE, which now has 20k miles on it having bought it December last year. Like a numpty I just checked the dealer stamps in the service log without diving into the detail - essentially the 12k interval requirements were missed and just the oil and filter changed. Must admit I’m surprised a Mottorad dealer would allow that but perhaps it’s a case of customer gets what they ask for? Anyway - decided to ditch the official network (UK) and go to Bike Motor Works at Grendon Northants, Ian Joyce talked me though his findings noting incorrect wire routing (I imagine for the genuine spots it has) and a driveshaft drain plug that required a breaker bar to undo it. All corrected and the bike ran so well on the way home it felt genuinely different! Shout out to this independent who knows his stuff!

Stumbled across Ian at Bike Motor Works via this site having recently developed a significant fuel leak on the old girl, my R1200 RT. Bike collection was swiftly arranged, Fault quickly diagnosed, replacement part sourced and fitted. Also had the common Fuel Strip failure sorted whilst he was in their. Fantastic, professional, friendly customer service throughout. Even on the short 10 mile journey home my bike felt and rode better than ever. The old girl won't be going anywhere else for all her future needs and maintenance, thank you Ian.

My Great Gran was born in Grendon (I’m from Wollaston myself, my Uncle Ted started Wollaston Motors in the 1970’s).

It’s a bloody small village, blink and you’ll have ridden through it.

Grendon Lakes is a lovely area, as is the nearby Castle Ashby area. Shame about the state of the towns nearby.
