bike security

I think that, luckily, GS's are low risk for nicking. Teenage scumbags can't cope with it, and professional thieves will go for a shinier and more fenceable bike.I've got mine on 3rd party insurance only..
I use a U lock only, which fits nicely on the topbox rack when not in use. Can also use it to lock helmets to the bike.

I use an Almax chain left at work with a Chubb lock - it is wrapped around a huge barrier. I can think of no better chain than Almax.

At home a Xena disk lock and a steel hawser fixed to a ground anchor and then around the rear subframe.

A word of advice here, whatever you use do not declare it on your insurance as once declared it has to be used all the time or you may have problems claiming for theft. My bike is declared as no security devices fitted for insurance purposes.

Sods law dictates that the one time you don't use your declared security device, that is when your bike will get pinched. And that's when you find out how hard-nosed your insurance company can be.
Your insurance proposal is a contract, and if you, for example, didn't lock your bike up in your garage when nipping home for a minute to grab something before heading off again, you are in breach of contract.
