Bike Stolen Today!

This is true I promise.
Returned to the bay to get mine after work this evening. There's a guy in bike gear standing there.Asks me if my bike's mine. Then he tells me he's had the new one nicked today.Parked there for one fucking day !
It's a loan bike from Woolaston BMW.He lives in Milton Keynes & is now stranded. His K1300s is being serviced.
What an absolute pisser.I'm not taking mine in for a week,'cos they will be back.Lucky mine was locked to the ground anchor.Terrible.
Wow, the owner will be lucky if its still there by the time the guy goes home! No lock really is inviting trouble, I know it means little, but may make them move to the next.

Police have now checked the bank CCTV and the CCTV from another building and canvased the other buildings round where mine was taken and no coverage of that end of the bay......have to wander if the scum knew that, as not even a van in shot at time of theft, and not that big-a-bay, so maybe they parked at the end they knew wasn't covered.

We are fighting a loosing battle!

I'd like to be a fly on the wall when he calls his BMW dealer. What sort of numpty parks a brand new bike in central London without any sort of security device fitted?

Why don't the police just set a trap and catch these scumbags. I'll wager that when they catch whoever is nicking these bikes, they could uncover some bike theft gang.

Not wishing to sound unsympathetic, but what was he thinking of, leaving a brand new expensive bike with no security on , in the middle of London, all day.

Naïve to say the least.

Set one yourself. There are a hundred and one tooled-up, chomping at the bit, bikermates on this site alone, all gagging to deal with crims (and mates of crims) who steal bikes. Affirmative action; it's the future.

It's also likely to land you in jail ! In any case, isn't it part of the Boys in Blue remit to catch thieves or do they just like to catch nice innocent people doing 33 in a 30 etc.

Yep - a nice honey trap...with a band of GS'ers watching around the corner....with baseball bats.

We are just practicing for our baseball team, officer....

Lots, if my (somewhat unscientific) strolls around the bike bays of the City of London are anything to go by.

Would you like a spanking 1200 GSA, with a shiny toolbox, Martini racing paint (maybe it's the special edition?) on the beak and tank, BMW logo'ed grip puppies (look the dogs, mate) and a Humvee sticker on its very clean top box? I'll get you one tomorrow.

If they are doing 33 in a 30 then they are as guilty as fcuk :thumb2

Why are you hanging around bike bays in the City Richard? I thought Kings Cross was your patch ?

Because they couldn't care less.

Yes please, but please take the Humvee sticker off before you bring it round.

Nutty,That's what I said to him, with a sympathetic tone.He parks a nice K1300s in the same spot & does n't lock that.I bet he will in future.I'd love to have a newer one but the theft issue puts me off.

Couldn't agree more, with apparently £22million worth of motorbikes stolen last year, surely there is an argument for a basic sting operation. Couple of bikes monitored by undercovers I bet would get results pretty quickly. Or maybe I've been watching too many police movies!

They honestly couldn't care less. On TV this morning there was a chap who was watching his office being burgled on the CCTV. He called the police, saying that the thieves were still there, but they said they don't have any officers available.:blast

He then had a second alert when they went back to finish the job 10 minutes later, and when he called the police the second time to say they'd gone back, they said there was nothing they could currently do.

They then sent an officer round later to collect the CCTV tapes, and guess what; he forgot to take the tapes when he left.:blast A few days later, he had a letter from the police to say that they had contacted a number of local residents/ businesses, to gather information, yet when he spoke to the locals, nobody had heard a thing from the police.

It really is laughable.
