Bike test

mate of mine who knows a chap who works at a bmw dealership reakons there will be a sticker on tank no riders under 100kg. this is a big boys toy, so if you do not measure up fuck off.

Bike magazine test

Until i read the Bike magazine article i am not sure i can comment. Suffice to say that if there is a problem ( and it appears there is ) BMW had best come clean about it. I have found it a concern that we have had no explanation as to the circumstances of Kevin Ash's accident. If it was down to rider error then tells us that. If not we the motorcycling public deserve an answer. Were Kevin Ash still with us would he not be asking the same questions? I freely admit i am a big shit bag. I do not fancy the idea of my new bike wanting to spit me off.
As said in a previous post now that this is in the public domain BMW must address it.

Gonna be an interesting 6 months perhaps

Yep, time will tell. If there is a problem, I have no issue cancelling my order as I do not NEED this bike, but I'm interested to see how the bikes fare once they hit our shores, and the general public are let loose on them.

I really do not believe that if there is a known dangerous fault with all LC 1200's that BMW would release the model on sale as it would destroy the company overnight. The issues in SA could be related to a batch of bikes not being set up properly, but who knows.

BMW need to issue an official statement in response to the BIKE test, and fast.

And their comment will be " THEY ALL DO THAT SIR, ITS JUST CHARACTER"

Quite right ...... but they do not have a good record of "coming clean" about anything, even minor issues, i.e. fuel relay, EWS, etc. It took about 4 years for the EWS recall to happen.

I'm surprised the bike got though road testing without this being picked up.

If BIKE and others are reporting it it's real bad news and for once BMW had better get it sorted or their reputation will suffer much than they ever did over dodgy FD's and FPC failures

Steering damper

Steering damper fitted before launch ????
The can't release a bad bike can they ????
To many instances now this is bad publicity for a new bike
I will be surprised if it's launched on time .

All Beta Testers Must Record Our Demise

In view of the alleged built-in bucking bronco feature I’m going nowhere without strapping a video camera to the bike so that when I’m found days/weeks later over some hedgerow gently decomposing BMV can provide for those left behind + a bit of compo £,£££,£££.££

On a serious note I really can't believe this is happening and it needs explaining by the manufacturer period. It does seem strange no explanation has come out of SA following the tragic KA accident/incident.

I did own one of the first TL1000S to come into the country (no steering damper) and I never had a single head shake in the 3 years and I hooliganed around the country with gay abandon !....... married with two kids before someone comes along with smart-arse poke at my sexuality!

Interesting :beerjug:

It goes to show the huge responsibility that the journos have when writing their reviews (which have just cost BMW at least two sales from this thread..)

Aye, even if it is an over reaction to an isolated event once the is idea is implanted that bike is likely to go into a tankslapper it becomes very difficult to shake (so to speak).
