I'm nearly 66 and have an LC coming. My 2004 GS used oil at start.
Give it heaps and make those rings bed in properly.
I'm not scared of tank slappers. Dopey car drivers are worse.

You've had the best of the jobs, the best of the house prices, the best pensions and now...you're all buying up the LC's!!!

Leave some for us youngsters.

Are BMW missing a trick here... Should the options list include a bifocal screen, incontiseat and a commode that fits in one of the boxes. (Touracrap)..

I had my first BM at 19 when all my mates were on GSXR's and FZR's. Did I take some stick for riding an old mans bike....:rob

After some response to my first ever post; some thoughts.
I'm not rich, buying current bike on the knock and would simply carry on with existing payment level, if I have a new bike. Big if at present. I was prepared for sorting out "issues" via recalls, but tank slappers are something else. For anyone familiar with the film "Marathon Man" there is an infamous line from the Nazi dentist "is it safe" Bike magazine don't seem to think so up to now. If my current bike did'nt use oil I would not have even thought of chopping it, for at least another year. But now I'll probably hang on to it until the dust has settled, if it does. I expected all journo reports to be lavish in their praise etc etc but although there have been some good reports, others have been a bit subdued.

You sound like you've got through life without listening to shite and going on your own gut instinct, if your happy with what you've got,,,,, so be it , you wanna change,,,,,,,, your choice, if you do and don't like it, how quick would it sell? in a heartbeat I think,,,,,, but what if,,,,,,,,,, you get it ,and it fits you like a glove and in a couple of weeks you wonder what all the fuss is about.
That's the beauty of this life, freedom of choice:thumb

what might have been

Cancelled my order this morning. Will await feedback over the next few months from guys who have bought a new LC.

I will when I've ridden it, some of us aren't as lucky as you & had kids to ferry about on a Saturday

My brief look at it yesterday confirms that BMW have built a better bike than the previous 1200's - they 've added some weight back in & everything is styled better

I reckon that the reality of riding will make me smile
