Bike to Bike on Bluetooth !

Says so on the box - not heavy rain, but light/moderate rain maybe. Won't be testing it though if given the choice.

Ive been looking at getting these for a bit. I'm currently using the cellularline interphone set. Its good but has limitations, the main one being that you cant have gps and paired to another unit at the same time. Ive read in the bumf of the q2 that you can have it paired to another unit and your gps and it will give you the gps instructions and then reconnect to the partner unit. Have you tried this and does it work? If it does then i'll be getting a set.

The trick is to pair your mobile to the GPS then the GPS to the head set. That way you get the extra functionality the GPS can offer on the phone front. It will say (“incoming call...accept or reject” on the screen of the GPS for example and much more like phone book, dial home etc. etc.). That might work better with the set you have.

So yes last week end I did the following all at the same time:
1)Paired on open Duplex (full two way conversation) to another bike.
2)Paired with my pillion. (you have to tap the control button to switch between other paired Q2’s.)
3)Paired the Q2 with the GPS
4)Paired to mobile to the GPS.
5) I think it can pair with 5 devices so you could add an Ipod as well.

The GPS is given the highest priority and will cut off your conversation until it’s finished its directions then your reconnected automatically to the pillion/other bike that you were talking to.

The mobile phone works in the same way either through the GPS or direct.
You can of course pair directly with the mobile phone if not using GPS and that two will be automatic reconnection with the other set/sets.

You also have FM radio built into the Q2 system.

The unit on paper would cure all my woes over using the Autocom and have to admit it sounds very good.

I am a little dissapointed that they never see fit to put an 3.5 output jack for In Ear Monitors. Maybe some electrical spark could confirm if the speakers could be cut off and the ends wired into a 3.5 socket for use with Ultimate ear monitors?

Adie

Good news :thumb- here's the email I received from Ultimate Ears confirming that they can put their monitors on the Q2. I already have one on order!!!!:augie

Richard hi,
Yes we can do that, and indeed we have been converting the headset for awhile now. I am out of the loop for a couple of week’s holiday, if you talk with our guy Kevin, [email protected] he can fill in the gaps.

Next question ..... does anyone know of a smallish affordable device that will connect to a Garmin Quest to give Bluetooth output to the Q2?

Bluethooth

have just got a zumo 550 yet to be fitted and was going to use it with my old autocom but this looks like the answer
Is there any problems with the volume of the music from the Zumo that I read about using other systems?

No problems with the volume but if you want hi fidelity music quality sound get Ultimate Ear Monitors fitted to the Q2 (See above posts):thumb2

Helment headset speakers are fine for GPS and Comms...and OKish. for music

Nothing on the market that's practical enough. You can get adapters but where do you put if? Cable tie it to your handle bars :eek:and won't be water proof!!!!

Suggest you launch the Quest on eBay and get yourself a Zumo.

Zumo can also Bluetooth with your phone at the same time (see above posts)

PS - To be exact I can here it perfectly at "top speed" with ear plugs in...get the picture?

This Q2/UE monitor set up seems like a good idea, but can I just clarify a couple of things...

1. In order so that I can use my monitors instead of the speaker supplied with the Q2, will UE be modifying my monitors or the Q2?

2. If the answer to 1 is that they will modify the monitors, what are they going to do to them and will I still be able to use them without the Q2 - say if I buy the Q2 and it turns out to be crap and I just want to go back to listening to my iPod.

3. Am I right in thinking that I can then create a Bluetooth link between my iPod and the Q2 so that I can hear both through the monitors with the Q2 automatically interrupting the iPod in the event of a call and starting it again once the call's finished?

4. Is there some device which allows me to use Bluetooth to connect to both the Q2 and also my Belkin SportCommand remote as both appear to use the same plug?

Thanks in advance.

1) Ultimate Ear - Not Q2 (Cardo) people.

2) If you want to use your UE monitors for other things other than the Q2 get them to put a jack socket on the Q2 (by removing the speakers first) that way you can just plug in your UE monitors to the Q2.

3) Yes correct.

4) What the feck is a Belkin SportCommand remote?

Hope this helps.

This is a Belkin SportCommand. It's a waterproof bluetooth iPod remote and a great bit of kit. The bluetooth dongle plugs into the bottom of your iPod which you then stash in a jacket pocket and the waterproof remote conveniently velcros into the inside of your left handguard thereby allowing you to adjust the volume or play, pause, stop and skip.

The question is whether you can get something which allows you to plug two separate devices into the bottom of an iPod?

The Q2 can pair with 5 devices.

Get a Zumo - pair the phone with the Zumo and Zumo with the Q2. Sell the Ipod and put your music on the Zumo...less guff and no wires.:thumb

Keep the feedback coming Gabby, looking better all the time...

Dunno if I missed it but can this system pick up music in stereo from the Zumo via bluetooth and if so is the sound quality any good??

Yes you missed it:blast

Zumo via Bluetooth is perfect and sterio. Sound quality from helmet mounted speakers will suffer a little for hi quality sound (bit like having the car window open while driving on motorway with the CD player on...good but what’s that noise in the background?)

See above about getting Ultimate Ear speakers fitted to the Q2...then it's the dog’s danglies....:D
