Which Kenwood are you going to be using?

Starcom fitting

Started to fit my starcom this morning... Where have any of you fitted the starcom unit?

Only place seems to be under rear of tank on air filter box, or is there somewhere else?

I intend to fit my radio somewhere on the bars, so it's antenna is not obstructed, and it can be quickly unplugged when leaving the bike.

Planning to fit my Starcom and B2B (just ordered) in the boot of the sidecar (if I can find the room :D :D :D )

On top of the air box seams to be the best place, I also routed the cables under the tank to keep them out of the way.
I bought a Toureg crossbar bag from Hein Gerick to keep the radio in. Easy access and somewhere to keep all the cables when off the bike.
Make sure you keep the ariel of the radio as upright as possible to ensure maximum range. I normally have mine poking out of the end of the zip on the bag, works a treat.

And another thing....

Although the vox works fine after a bit of setting up I find it much easier to use the ptt. When you have the vox activated and have music playing then every time you sing along the vox activates and the music cuts out!!!
This is not a problem unique to starcom, all intercoms with vox and music facilitys do it.

ok i am now quite pi#@ed off.
kenwood radio will not fit under seat anywhere?
how do we put it with this ? time we all became bike designers:D

If its any help chaps, I use this, runs forever on 3 Durcel AA's.

PTT is easy to use, I don't use VOX as I find the wind noise opens it up. Radio cost £35.00 and the headset kit £14.00 or therabouts at a Maplin sale.

Tis but a couple of seconds job to disconnect and take it with you.
