Bike to compliment a GS 1200

16000 miles into my 2010 GSA and have bonded to it totally, still want to ride it every day, with the mods done, it puts a big grin on my face riding like a loon

want to get another bike to compliment not compete against it, use a drz400 for a winter snow/green lane bike, my lammys for 2 stroke tuning and rallies,

Have had a broad mix of bikes in the last 30 years

dukes 999 750 paso, too much like a mistress for me, occasional rapture and pleasure but too many headaches, dough and pain

old brits B40, A65, Enfield, like the charm but too slow for me

Hinckley Bonnie, too soft, no ground clearance, poor suspension, perfect for when I,m 60

Harley superglide, better than i thought it would be, lots of character but got tea leafed and wrecked my insurance for years

Jap bikes dont have that elusive thing called character for me (except for my 3 ex Elsies), love riding one but ownership dulls the experience

any ideas out there keep thinking Cali T3, 900 monster, (sucker for a mistress)

being worthy is not enough, must be fun too

Hi, thought I would sneak in a reply..

Just bought a R1200c 'Chromehead' cruiser, done a couple of hundred miles on it over the weekend, it's gonna be fun but not a replacement for my 2011 GSA or my mint K1200s that I clean more than I use..

Maybe my wife will get on the back of the cruiser, it's a bit slower than the rest.. Lol..

Had a CZ250 after the MZ and they were junk in comparison

I finally sold my 1980 MZ TS250/1 Supa 5 last year after buying it new to replace a Norton Commando MkIII. It had been "resting" in the garage since 1988 but I believe it's back on the road again.

It had a Honda CB72 TLS front hub, complete with Mintex AM4 linings, laced into the original alloy rim with Continental tyres, Kawasaki switchgear and Magura levers on Norton straight handlebars, a Cibié headlamp, TS150 sidestand. It was a good one and would go off the clock flat out.

To complement my GS, I'd quite like a nice wee naked / streetbike. I tested a Z750R a couple of weeks ago and it was good but it's only 5 kg lighter than a GS so it's not that quick and obviously not built from the best materials. In passing, I also tested the Z1000SX and really liked that. However, although I haven't tested one yet, I think a Street Triple R would probably suit me nicely.

IMHO, the perfect companion to my GSA....

It might be another 1200cc twin, but thats were the similarity ends.

And/or how about some SM wheels for the DRZ as well - two bikes in one.

I tested the Tuono V4 ARPC when I was looking for my second bike.
It was good, but it didn't blow me away. However, when I tested the Diavel, I instantly wanted one.

If you want a complement to the GS ....

It has to do something a GS doesn't

Well a GS can off road, tour and will have a go at scratching so you either need a balls out track bike, or a cruiser.

The cruiser market is pretty diverse: you have things like the Ducati posted earlier and the HD V-Rod at one end, and chrome barges at the other (Victory, HD & Jap).

You enjoyed the Superglide until it got stolen so why not take a look. I love the simplicity of mine, plus the way it is so easy to jump on and ride. I feel like the GS requires me to suit up, iPod and Sat Nav on etc. The Harley just requires a piss pot helmet and a leather jacket
