Bike won't start. Help!!

I tried starting the bike last night for work. But all i got was a big fat click then the the display and lights went out. So I turned it off and tried again 5 mins later, same again.
Plugged battery into optimate and left on charge overnight while I went to work.
The battery is now fully charged, so have tried again this morning. exactly the same as last night, as well as the EWS on the display. I have since tried to jump start it from the car and This time instead of one click then display going off, I get a few clicks if i keep start button in. Then it stops and I get the EWS on screen and nothing else happens.
Has anyone any ideas please.
 
I had exactly this a couple of months ago with my bike (gave me palpitations to see the EWS come up on the display!) - yep, it was the battery. Replaced it with a Motobatt and all was well once more.
 
exact same thing happened to me last week,going out to meet friends for ride out and just got a click noise,battery had been on trickle charge all week
Put jump leads on from car bike started first time. Tested battery and it was reading 12.9volts,purchased new battery all good back on road :thumb2
 
I would suspect the ring antenna Can you try another one from someone near you?
 
I've tried it from 2 different batteries. 1 on the car and another which is a 60 AH battery both with the same result....click-click-click. Then the EWS indication??
 
Ok a few things here , how good are your jump leads ? most are very wimpy and the combined current through them of suddenly recharging the battery and starting the bike is too much for them , so try the leads connected and the car running for 5 mins before starting the bike , that should rule out the above problem .if you still get multiple clicks from the solenoid it could be poor jump lead connections as most jump leads are designed for big car battery terminals not small bike ones and do not grip tightly enough to make a decent contact , try having an assistant start the bike while you press 1 side of the jaws hard against the bike battery terminals. Failing that your battery could be so knackered as to be taking a huge recharge current or an internal short , try removing the bike battery leads and connecting directly to the jump leads WARNING be very careful not to let the leads become disconnected if the bike starts as running with no battery connected can ruin your alternator . Failing that your starter could be knackered and causing a dead short , 1150 starters had a habit of the casing magnets coming unglued and jamming /shorting the starter , no amount of new batteries will fix this
 
New battery is my suspect .... I've been there done that for the same faults.

Easy to test disconnect bike battery and just wire the spare battery on the floor direct to the battery cable terminals with suitable cables and secure so they cant short out and the bike should start if its the battery that has failed if it does the the same and just clicks start looking at the starter and solenoid
 
I would have said a weak battery. The tempreture has dipped over the past few days, and a battery that had just been managing in the warm weather , will be the first thing to pack in during the change.

Disconnected the battery and put it back on charge indoors, Then connected the jump leads between the car battery and the leads on the bike...... still click click click.
