But can't find others with this.
Front Conti Trail Attack is cracking / splitting - following the tread block pattern.

Done about 1.5k miles of correctly inflated riding.

Anyone else?

Have photos (but the learning to load Might Be Some Time).

Mine did that this summer. Had already put 10000 miles on it (the front tyre). Given that it was darn hot (40degs +) and on faster roads I was 'making progress' when not dragging the pegs (well not really but I was sliding the rear tyre on a few turns) on the turns in the pyrenees... I figure I got my moneys worth out of them. My assumption is that it was a combination of heat and speed that killed them.

Hmm. Thanks for the info. Doubtless not structural and all that..
Will dig out my receipt and check how new it really is, see what supplying garage think etc.

Quite a few tyres show surface splits/cracks which are fairly superficial. GS's and other big bikes especially with more blocky tyres but a lot of sheer strain on the front tyre. Have a good check to see how deep the splits are and/or post a pic.

There have been some horror stories over the years but there is also the age/use surface cracks. Also with tyres there is the how age old/mileage/exposure issues that can bring this. The bad ones just look alarming:augie

Thanks Wrigsby. Oh I don't disagree with your words for a second.

(Almost) doubtless only cosmetic deterioration. I have worse on a couple of my car tyres, but couldn't care a hoot about them.

I have taken a couple of photos, but they're about the size of roadside wonderbra hoarding. I've never posted a picture before. Once I've got my head around the re-sizing etc thing, shall post 'em up.

Go on, post 'em. A picture tells a thousand words etc. You can resize them through Windows or email them to yourself as an attachment and resize them that way.

I have had many a surface crack but last year i bought a K11LT with a Metz ME55 you could almost carbon date. That had more worrying cracks and i changed it pretty quickly. All part of the fun...
