Does anyone use it for encrypting portable drives /

It comes highly recomended as secure and is included in our software

i am currently encrypting a drive with it and it is taking for ever - 5 Hours so far to do 20%

It's just the way it is mate, it's secure enough, but depending on the version of Bitlocker, the size of the drive and the speed of the drive, it can take a while.

Cheers
its a 2TB brand new

That's going to take a wee while then matey, but it will be nice and secure when it's finished :) Is it on a Windows 7 Machine or an 8/8.1? When you are using Bitlocker to go, there's a flag you can set to not require the pin to unlock on this PC, I'd suggest you set that, or you will get pissed off entering the pin to unlock the drive on the machine you encrypted it on. It's pretty robust though once it's done, with no tail off in performance once encrypted.

Win 7 Ultimate and yes i ahve done the bit where the pass wordon this macine is not required

Ah well patience was never one of my virtues !

2TB will take a long very time to encrypt. Haven't used bitlocker but I use Truecrypt at the work for all the laptops and stuff. Bitlocker will probably become the default now that it is included in all versions of windows 8.
