Decided that as were only away for 5 days that we'll stay put and explore, The hotel is about 210mls from Zeebruger so a easy ride down. One day will be sort off looking about and doing two of the three routes below, (Thanks to a friend who stayed here and did these routes with a group the other year). Also with the Ring only about 30ml away :augie.
Any thoughts on these routes etc.

Heading to Germany for the MotoGP at Sachsenring July 6th-8th. Will be on the Hull to Rotterdam boat on the Wed night then heading to Suhl on the Thursday, then to Zwickau for the weekend. Planning a little trip to visit Colditz in the afternoon then spend the weekend at the circuit.
My first trip into Germany, what do I need to look out for?:nenau

Well whilst you are in Suhl why not take time out to visit the Simson roller (scooter) museum. These, along with the Trabbies were the prime means of transport in the old East Germany and the waiting list for one was measured in years not weeks or months. In fact Simson were also big into Enduro's and won several major events in the Eastern block countries.
The factory (also in Suhl) but not within walking distance of the museum lies empty but a small section still serves as a workshop (run by ex employees) to knock things up. Very recently, as in last week, the Simson roller achieved all certification necessary and an electric model will soon be hitting the streets. Well worth the visit and if you're interested at all the address of the museum can be found under the Kontakt tab of this link. http://www.fahrzeug-museum-suhl.de/seiten/sport.htm

By the way, the wife runs an identical model to the yellow roller shown in the top image and commutes to work with it on sunny days. For me it means an early rise as the thing is a :censor: to start in the mornings.

Don't know the route that you'll be taking but you'll probably enter into former East German territory either via the States of Thuringen or Sachsen-Anhalt. Note the lay of the land as you enter the former DDR which is characterised by relatively open areas void of trees making for the spotting of escapees relatively easy and also in places the remains of watch towers. If you're on the motorway, which often you have to yourself as it's nothing like the M25, keep an eye out for stone pillars which are stamped 'you are now entering........etc'.

Enjoy the trip.
