Hi all
Question for you knowledgeable folk
I’m convinced there’s a clicking/rattling from the right hand side as you sit on it
There’s black particles keep appearing on top of swing arm
Is there any thing at the front of the swing arm that can do this
My brother reckons I’m hearing things
It seems to come on at 3k
Cheers all

Right hand side sitting on it is likely the throttle body chattering

Black particles Brake pad dust or tyre rubber ??

The only thing up front that might be doing that is the Alternator belt ??

To be fair it looks like rubber
It could be throttle body
I’ll have a look

My guess is it's the alternator belt losing its ribs. One of my bikes was missing probably half of the total mount of rib when I changed it out.

Check if the paralever bearings have any play .. I’ve had a couple of bikes in the past come in with the final drive moving enough for the disc to rub against the final drive gaiter causing black rubbery dust partials on the swingarm same as you’ve mentioned .. could possibly also be something to do with the noise

Job for the week
Is it the bearing that that big bolt goes into
With lock nuts on inside?

Cheers lads for replies
Bear with me I’m a bmw idiot
Along the parakeet there’s 2 massive Allen bolts from my understanding have bearings either side to allow up and down movement
The noise seems to come from by the front one
In Japanese terms swing arm bearing
Is that where I’m looking?
As previously said cheers all

Checked for play nothing
I wonder if it is something as simple as the throttle body

Reach around F'narrr F'narr

Under the throttle body until you can touch the throttle quadrant

Just squeeze it in towards the alloy body whilst the engine is ticking over

If it goes away then the throttle body bush is worn and you are getting chatter at the butterfly

Sound like you're close to BMW mental breakdown with parakeets in the mix too...👍😆

Usually an Airhead thing unless you are an LC owner thinking of anything other than Bluetooth connectivity 🤣😆

Thing is I’ve lost big chunks of my hearing and sertain noises are deafening
My brother thinks I’m losing my mind but I can’t hear it
It’s like a rapid ticking
Loudest to me at about 3k
I can always wear earplugs😩

Drop off the plastic Alternator belt cover and check the belt is not shredding

Also it won't be the throttle body chatter except at idle

Maybe worth looking at cam chains and make sure the guides are in one bit!! Usually left lower if I recall

Here’s a lateral thinking type thought
Could it be a exhaust blow at the head?

I know what you mean but I can’t replicate it whilst standing
I think it only does it under load
I’d put new gaskets on the headers but the bolts scare me 😂
