Black screen of death??

Hi, can anyone help me with this problem? my sons 1 month old samsung laptop with windows 7 powers up to just a black screen and cursor:eek: i have spent the last 3 days trying to overcome this problem using google and alike but everytime i think i have overcome (safe mode,explorer.exe)it back it returns:nenau in the end i thought sod it and tried to install the system recovery disc but that didnt work? is there a special way to get this to run? as you can probably tell i am complete numpty when it comes to computers (turn on, view, clear memory)so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Shot in the dark for you, sometimes they get stuck in a sleep/hibernation mode. Unlikely because you can obvioulsy get safe mode, however

remove the battery and power lead, leave for at least half an hour so everything drains, don't reisnsert the battery just the power lead, give it a start. If it comes on without any trouble put the battery back in.
 
If it is only 1 month old, take it back and get the shop where you purchased it to fix it.
 
Thanks for the advice, rang the samsung help line and a nice gentleman talked me through how to fix it, apparently windows had something wrong with it:rolleyes: anyway system reboot and all is well:D

Sorry no luck with a black screen of death, would a good old fashioned BSOD - Blue Screen of Death do.
