Black System Panniers

Alot of hard work has gone into your panniers. Although your way would be cheaper, would it not be better to have them professionally sprayed black?

PS: what exhaust silencer do you have?

POG, How are the panniers holding up now after a few miles and washes. I'm thinking this is a good use of down time whilst it's ICY.

They look Great and I'm worried I'm going to pick the wrong colour does anyone else think that shiny gold is too :ymca.

Paul,

Not really that hard. The hardest bit was cleaning the panniers and getting the surfaces smooth.

This way the vinyl can be removed if desired, and a different colour applied. Or upon selling, they could be sold in original condition. Floyd on here has covered his in clear vinyl keeping the ally look. I'm sure he'll provide pictures if you ask him nicely. Also there is quite a bit of vinyl left over so any scratches or blemishes could just be replaced.

Exhaust... Zorstec ... CLICKY :thumb

Well, absolutely no corrosion as they're covered in protective film amazingly enough ;)

One small battle scar hill climbing at GOTC last year. Hardly worth bothering about.

The vinyl's guaranteed for 10 years (IIRC), totally weatherproof and looks great. Best £24 (IIRC) I spent. Go for it !! :thumb It's not that hard, take your time, make sure the panniers are prepared, don't panic, use washing up liquid soloution and shiny gold's a great colour :D :thumb

Happy New Year digger :aidan

Took me a year to do the post and pictures  Grass has been cut BTW :thumb

a great new year to you too sir, ill be checkin the grass, bet it wasnt you that cut it anyway

My panniers are new so a basic clean should be all they need then? I like the idea of clear vinyl. My only reservation is that in your photos you can see air bubbles and a texture to the vinyl. Has this ironed out with time or can you still see a vinyl texture and air bubbles?

I was more concerned how the Vinyl looks after normal use, any chance you could post a couple of pics of your cut grass (with the Bike an panniers in pic) or is it really as good as the day your fitted them?

Thanks for the time to answer the questions chap :D

Tomorrow I will take some photos and put them up here for you :thumb

I will not wash the bike beforehand (because I can't be arsed) and it hasn't been washed for ages. You might need to trust me on this one but the vinyl really does work ;)

Pog,

Many thanks for sharing the excellent pictorial! The finish is awesome!
