Has anyone here used a free or cheap unlocking code doofer on the interweb to unlock a blackberry with any success ?

If so, do you mind sharing the linky for where to do so ?

I've had a look around on google and youtube, but most seem to be scams of one kind or another.

I'm not much 'up' on these mobile telephones, so be gentle if I'm overlooking the bleedin' obvious (again) :D

Most indian shops have a little man sitting at the back somewhere waiting to do this for you for a tenner and it takes 1/2 an hour:thumb2
Usually a sign out the front proudly stating this fact.

Thanks for that. Sorry - I should have said earlier, the helpful chap (no - really) in the carphone warehouse (who had no axe to grind either way and nothing to gain from his suggestion) suggested that back street unlockers may not be the best approach - something about the software they remove and then replace it with being risky in some way :nenau

I get the impression it can be done with the appropriate codes and without removing or installing anything on the phone itself, but have drawn a blank so far and just wondered if anyone had been through the process already.

Well I've had 4 Bberrys all unlocked post contract, all BB features of the phone remain, just the service provider apps disappear- your new provider (sim) will have the connectivity you have paid for.
Just going on my experience.

Also tried unlocking the first one myself using codes off t'internet with no success.

if your out of contract phone your carrier and they will unlock it for you. They have nothing to gain these days by not doing it for you.
