Blackloonies Alert!!

I seem to have many bottles of Sherry - somehow I don't think you lot will want it :barf.

Unless you Chefs use Harvey's or Croft's for cooking :D.....

Bob.

Tio Pepe is a very civilized tipple to which I am quite partial on occasion and as you say sherry is a very useful product when cooking.

Just a thought people. if I make it to this event it will be on a bike with pretty much zero miles, so by the time I get there it will be 481 miles plus the usual run out, so probably 600 miles, and there wont be a Honda dealer open on a sunday, so anywhere cheapish local I can stay till I find a Honda dealer open on a Monday.

Mr Jag, after a night with the loonies, the last thing on your mind will be servicing your bike.

1/ Gerry pheasant would be lovely. Aa is doing lasagne you do pheasant I will do tatties and veg. And I will do bacon banjos in the morning.

Somebody contacted Ronnie who is sadly disposed today.
Asking how to get there.
It is about 6 miles past Blairgowrie on the a93 look for the blackwater hall if you come to the turn off for pitlochrie you've gone too far and go back half a mile.

Hmm.... directions a bit dodgy!!

A93 North from Blairgowrie, signed Braemar, through Bridge of Cally past hotel....if your'e early enough the team will be in there for lunch..about 4 miles north of Bridge of Cally there is a junction on right signed Alyth, about 200 yards after that junction the hall is on the left, set back, but visible from, the main road.

Look on google maps sattelite pix and it's second on the left past the Alyth turn.

I'll get phlucking...

Is Thurs good for you Bob??

What happened to yer motor?

It seems its a fairly common problem with those Landcruisers with independent front suspension (the older ones have beam axles with radius arms - like Landrovers).

The system consists of a pair of wishbones with a steering knuckle mounted on balljoints between them. The front springs bear on the lower wishbone and the car sits on its wheels - so the lower balljoint is in constant, extreme, tension. There are no greasing points on the balljoints.

I noticed the steering feeling stiff and thought the front tyre might be soft (I check all tyres before setting off) and was thinking about finding a lay-bye when 'BANG . . . Scraaaaaaaape'. I lost the brakes but was able to steer it to the side of the road.

A friend came to the rescue with her Discovery-3 and took the horses plus daughter & friend and their riding kit back to the Livery Yard.

My son-in-law took my wife home.

I waited for the RAC recovery lorry. It didn't take long and the Landcruiser is back in my yard while I strip it down and replace everything on both sides. I've thought about getting a newer one but I've spent so much on this thing over the five years I've had it that I'll stick with it a bit longer.

Its only done a couple of hundred miles since passing its MOT !

The moral of the story is to replace Landcruiser balljoints every five years as a matter of course.

Bob.

Black loonies

As well as sethmop, Hut van and Mark2jag are likely to be joining our sect.
