Ok, so i'm really frustrated....

I bought a Dell desktop pc, which in itself has been fantastic... BUT...

Since i've had it, when i go online (broadband) while a website is loading, or even sometimes after it's loaded, the webpage suddenly changes to a Dell page saying something along the lines of ooops your page could not be found, etc etc etc...

I wouldn't mind if it was occurring when the occasional slow loading page is being accessed, but i even get it when a page has been loaded for several seconds i'm busy reading and suddenly it's replaced by this damn dell page.

Does anybody here know what software is being run by this damn Dell machine that would cause this to happen? I can't see anything obvious, but i'm VERY frustrated....

thanks...

stick on firefox and see what happens

I've tried firefox on my laptop....i don't like it, lots of people swear by it, by i just couldn't get on with it... unexpectedly i found it slower than IE7 (much to my disapointment)

Any other ideas.... I guess what i'm really after is either software i can remove from the damn pc to stop it happening, or a registry key etc that i can change/delete etc....

cheers though.

This may be of limited help, but..................

The "timeout" settings on your Internet explorer are obviously low (but I don't know how you change that).......... do a search?

There is a setting somewhere that specifies which site your pc goes to if it can't find the site you are looking for (or it times out). Dell have obviously set it so that you get their site :spitfire

Good luck:thumb2

I've tried the timeout settings and they're set to max. I'll look for the setting that changes the page though.

I did wonder if it was anything to do with the damn "software support" software they put on the machine?
