I had a 2011 1200RT as a loan bike today and it is probably the worst bike I have ever ridden.
First off, the riding position. Is the seat height-adjustable? My knees were up under my armpits and I felt like I should be wearing a clowns outfit and riding it round a circus ring.
The mirrors!!! What an absolute f.cking joke. How the hell they sell bikes with mirrors this poor I'll never know. As much use as tits on a fish.
The handling!!! It doesn't want to lean over at all, you have to force it over and then it feels like it's really scared and about to crap itself. It tries to sit back up and the front wheel starts to tuck under. it's horrible.
Stability. There isn't any. Falls off white lines and overbanding like you wouldn't believe. Very susceptible to side-winds and feels like the wheels are going to wash out from under you. (My 1200 Adventure on the return journey in the same conditions just got buffeted around but still felt secure.)
This was a 2500 mile bike with good tyres, ESA set on solo/normal and no obvious defects or damage.
The switchgear. Yuk. Looks cheap and nasty and is very small and fiddly and that was with summer gloves on. Getting back on my GS was wonderful, big, chunky and nicely-spaced switches.
The instrument display. Too dark. Can't see feck all. (until you go under the trees, then it all lights up and looks lovely

)
The verdict. I wouldn't have one given, which came as a surprise because I think they look quite nice.

And it was a pretty colour.
I was very glad to see the back of it
