Blown Bulb

That's their price. Pay your money or go else whare. They have same mark up on most stuff. Look at the discounted price you can see on stuff sometimes. One dealer offering system 6 helmit at £225. Do you think their taking a loss on them? They give free coffee someone has to pay. Not me I do my homework. JJH

At that price I'd of told 'em to suck my stubbly ball sack.

Jesus, this just reminds a lot of us why we don't use our main dealers. Ffs!!

You just have to know what to use your main dealer for. Consumables like bulbs, pads and tyres can be got much more economically elsewhere.....and drink 6 coffees and fill your pockets with biscuits..

:D

What a load of fuss and outrage over nothing.

The bod needed a bulb, so he bought one for £15, not the fiver he could have found one for. Net loss £10, except it's not a pure loss as he has his bulb and it works. By his own admission, he'd rather cough up than say "No" then and there and wait to buy one later. The bulb will probably last about 8000 miles; work out what ten quid is over pence per mile, it will make you feel happier.

All this 'It's a rip off, bloody dealers' from fellows who quite happily spunk pounds and pounds on bling to personalise their bike, as it will 'Say something about them'. Yup, the dealer maximised their profit on a bloody 2p bulb. Why? Because they could, right at that moment of most pressing customer need. The same way that punters can spend hours upon hours haggling down the cost of their new motorbike to zero... Or just kicking tyres, sucking their teeth over the rip-off of it all.

Worse things will happen in the world today. Get over it.

I would have either paid it or declined & bought one elsewhere

No drama

If I only rode in the daytime then I would have bought one at my convenience as it's not compulsory to ride with your headlight on in uk daylight

Thank fook it's not just me.
It's a tenner. Hardly the end of the world is it?

They cost less than £2 each trade :eek
I paid £7 for one at a garage in Dover last year and was gutted i never had one on me cuz i thought that was expensive
You have been well and truly ripped off :comfort

You should have sat by the edge of the road at Dover Docks and waited for the 'Trade' to deliver you one for £2.

That would have shown 'em what rufty-rufty self-reliant bikers do when they are being ripped off, mate. You would still be sitting there of course.

PS According to the well informed in this thread, the going rate for an H7 bulb is a fiver 'non-trade', across a motor factor's counter. The extent of your 'gutted' upset from a petrol station in Dover is therefore £2. Feck me, your gutted life must be miserable. Thank God you didn't buy fuel or biscuits there, have you seen the prices they charge. :D

There is a very easy solution to the "over priced bulb syndrome".................ask Mr Wassal of this parish to supply you with one of his excellent HID kits....................simples ;) :augie

I was gutted because i had my normal spares kit with a H4 for my trusty 1100 not a new fangled H7 on me and that was my cockup :bow

If anyone has any tenners they're not bothered about I can take care of them for you. No charge ;)

Swap the main beam to the dip and buy some cheap bulbs at the next chance. Sorted.

Or did as I had to last year when the dip failed while riding in the dark - ride the bike home on the fogs. The following day, I walked to Halfords. Clearly with no dip beam it wouldn't be safe to ride. ;)

Why? that's his price. Why should he be ashamed? There is more mark up in spark plugs. Well there was 20 odd years ago when I sold them wholesale to motor factors in lots of 1000 MIM. Buyer beware. JJH

But I'm sure if you buy 1000 bulbs they probaly cost less than £1 each. JJH

Its easier than that. Switch to main beam and flip the beam adjuster. Then replace bulb at your leisure rather than piss about swapping bulbs by the side of the road.

Eighty quid a pop, aren't they?

H7 bulbs are what, a fiver (or less, apparently) so that's 16 bulbs at £5 each. Average life expectancy of a bulb? Based on my experience 8,000 miles... That's um..... 128000 miles of accumulated H7 usage.... Average ownership of bike? 10 minutes (much of it spent gutted or permanently ripped-off, apparently). Poor return on the investment, based solely on that criteria.

Yehh but the difference is you can see in the dark with HIDs unlike the £5 bulbs :augie :comfort

Why not name the stealer and then we could all be wary of them.

I fear you are maybe confusing this thread with 'Where not to park in London, as baaaad things happen'? If you are not, here's something to ponder on....

It's a bog standard H7 bulb the OP got upset over, largely through his own making, the dealership being convenient for him to ride to. Nothing more, nothing less.

They didn't take his children and sell them into slavery or roger his cat or anything so really terribly awful that his life is forever ruined..

Will he make the same mistake again? We can only hope not. Will you? We can only guess.
