My friend has emigrated to Poland and left me her BMW 116d to sell. It's a cracking car and I've been daily driving it the last week. Firstly it's a previous Cat S (in 2019 I believe) but it was repaired well from what I can see and has done a chunk of miles since. It has good service history and the mileage has just tipped over 130,000. MOT August 2926, 3 owners from new (including current). £20 / year tax, many miles per gallon! The parcel shelf had seen better days and was held up with string and so I have just sourced a replacement. The odd scuff here and there but nothing drastic. Non Cat cars with similar mileage seem to fetch £4-6k so I think £3250 is fair. If it doesn't sell, I'll happily run it as a daily and save the mileage on the nicer stuff!

It has the usual, sat nav, phone and bluetooth on the iControl system which even for a Luddite like me, is intuitive to use.

I have some service / repair history;

Aug 25 - full service (I did the cabin filter / replaced side mirror repeater for MOT) (£248)
Jun 25 - new washer and pump fitted (£123)
Nov 24 - Exhaust damper and pipe repair / o2 sensor (£187 / £340
Nov 24 - Crankshaft pulley / belt, track rods (£693)
Nov 24 - 3 x new tyres (£207)
Nov 23 - 1 x new tyre (£82)
Nov 22 - service / clutch / flywheel (£1477)
Sept 22 - new discs / pads / service (£560)
Aug 21 - Service / new tyres (£701)

Photos aren't the best as I haven't had it cleaned yet and it's just as it came to me. I'm not making anything on it, just doing my friend a favour.

Car is in Halifax West Yorkshire

I tried to insure a cat s recently and some insurance companies will not have them now, whilst they don't ask you if its been a write off its your responsibility to tell them otherwise your insurance is void.

She had no issues insuring it - nor have I adding to my own policy

ambitous price for a cat s.
any evidence of timing chain replacement?
I'm only basing on Autotrader and there's only one (with lots more miles) for less, most other Cat S of the same age are nearer £5k, but I guess it's only worth what someone will pay. I'm happy to run it for a year or two and weight it in! I don;t have any invoice for timing chain in the paperwork I have. It was run as a company car until my friend bought it so I wouldn't be surprised if it were done but take it as not as there's no evidence (it has had regular oil servicing and there's no rattle on start).

Which insurance companies?

Which insurance companies?
it was RSA the car was a porsche and not a £3k motor, always best to check with your insurance co as many think its not necessary to inform them, i had previously insured a cat s and didn't disclose this as i thought they would automatically know, turns out you have to disclose.

Not my experience but thanks.

If the insurance don’t ask if it’s categorised y would u tell them, I wouldn’t but then if anything happened I wouldn’t expect full money back

Insurance companies can’t rely on nebulous questions and consumers must not misrepresent information in the question sets. That’s the law!

Well it’s taken a turn for sure - just thought I’d offer a cheap (for a clearly disclosed reason) but well looked after and cracking little motor for anyone that wanted some value for money motoring.
The old line of opinions are like arseholes, everyone’s got one springs to mind! Good luck with your sale.

Sadly the UKGS Torpedo squad are active.

Shame as usual.

Anyway have a bump, looks a nice car. 👍🏽
