I have had a look at this site, I don't know what to think, I would feel more confortable with Beemer cover, but at £450 it makes this option look good or too good to be true?. Has anyone got this?
If BMW offered the cover for £189 I would snap their hands off and I think they would make more profit as more people would go for it.
BTW, what is the labour rate per hour for BMW deallers?

Goos for you Jim - perhaps in return the Club will put another stamp on the envelope carrying my journal - which always arrives very late.

How can you put an end to endless discussion, which is by definition without end? Alright, Einstein it could be done by shooting all the participants!

The letter from BMW has just landed on the mat - a quote of £600 odd for the third year garauntee.

Even allowing for an element of profit, this imples that BMW themselves expect repair bills in the hundreds of pounds for the bike, and the owner can expect all the aggro of having the bike fixed. OK some will get away with no problem, but others will have major work done to bring the average to this cost level.

Dont know about you, but this garauntee premium puts me off having another GS even more than the forum moans because the premium is a judgement by the only people (BMW) who know the true reliability situation. Its easy to dismiss forum comments as unrepresentative, but you cant dismiss BMW's judgment in the same way

I have just had the same letter land on my mat. Cost now £495 (or does it vary depending on something I'm not aware of?)

It's about to have a load of work done before the warranty run out, (gearbox seal, filler cap, engine plate, clutch wear) plus have new bits put on after somebody reversed into it (on her insurance) so it might be a good time to sell methinks.

It's actually been 99% reliable (fuel pump relay thingy let me down once) mostly because it's get thrashed for 80 miles daily on my commute to work.

Keep an eye on the 'for sale' section for a very new looking 06 bike with 20K on the clock.

3rd year warranty need not apply

can anyone tell me what the conditions for taking out the bmw warranty are.
i asked my irish dealer could i take out this warranty and was told i could not.

the reason given was i should have taken it out when mw bike was still 3 months inside warranty from bmw.
that makes no sense to me, i rang the week my warranty was up and was told this.is england the same or was my dealer fobing me off.

he did not even offer the recovery service so i think he was not that interested in doing anything for me anyway.

I never received any letter from BMW inviting me to extend my warranty. When I enquired of this to my dealer I was told to not worry too much about the 3rd year extension and to come back to the dealer at the end of the 3 years and take out a 4th year cover. I was informed that if anything went wrong in the 3rd year the dealer would make a case to BMW for a goodwill repair and it was likely they would pay it! So I didn't do anything.

Then I was approached by Bennetts Insurance to see if I was interested in a warranty scheme giving me cover up to £3000 per repair and including European cover for up to 31 days per year - for £16.70 per month! This is ongoing cover and can be cancelled at anytime. Seemed good value to me.
