After returning from A 3k run to Spain and back, I decided to push the bike out of the garage for cleaning. As I did so i discovered due to the blasting of an alarm tone and flashing indicators My bike actually had an alarm fitted. I didn't ask for it, And wasn't told i had it.
The weird thing is, in the last two weeks I've not once noticed the alarm. No flashing on the dash and no audible warnings. I phoned my dealership to ask. They went through the settings with me. Confirming it did have an alarm. Which I didn't pay for (I think)
So all in all Im happy with it.
The question I have is this, The dash only shows a flashing light if i manually activate it within 30 seconds. If its set to auto arm, it doesn't show the flashing light. Is this right ?
The flashing light, to me, is important as an obvious deterrent.
The manual mentions nothing of the alarm status light ?
Thanks In advance:thumb

I have such a thing. red light only flashes if there has been an actiavation. JJH

what I've learnt....
If its on auto, no dash flashing.
if you arm it manually flashing dash light.
Indecently, My guy at the dealership went out to a similar bike and put it on auto arm. after 30 seconds it armed, then showed a flashing dash light
The Motion sensor is deactivated if the key fob is within range.
The dash with the ignition on show a telltale flashing light if activated. The amount of lights tell what set it off.
Id expect the dash light to flash whether its on auto or manual?
Oh well.
Free alarm .....:thumb

I didn't get a free "Goody bag" on collection of my new bike this time. Maybe they knew i was getting a free alarm instead.
Key fob buttons. Big BMW one twice to arm, Little rear button to disarm.

oh, and i finally found out what DWA stands for - Dieb-stahwarnanlage .
Of course it does.

So funny, basic translation is Thief warning system ie Died in German is a thief, the grandkids always play cops and robbers, and somebody has to be the Dieb

Sorry, I don't buy this. Surely, no flashing LED on the dash means the alarm just hasn't auto set? Probably been re-programmed to only set manually - easy enough to revise if you can be bothered. If you are absolutely sure it is auto setting, then the dealer needs to check it out as I cannot see any personal setting regime that allows the OPs scenario to occur..

Personally I hate Auto setting; such a nuisance on the Ferries - you wouldn't believe the number of alarms sounding off when it gets a bit rough on BF boats.

On auto setting, with no flashing status LED, the alarm is set. Ive tested it by woggling the handlebars to trigger it.
I've turned off auto now, in favour of the Manual setting which gives the LED flashing light. Plus,as you say, Ferries etc........
As the bike in the dealership flashed when auto is set, they will look at it next time I'm in.

One of the best things about not living on an Island, no ferries to be booked, or chunnel, but really do miss them cornish pasties

Surely there's something we can do here about that by way of motorcycle courier delivery? It might be slightly flattened and a day or two old, but it would still be a Westcountry Mouthorgan!
