Hi just bought a 2012 R1200GSA TC Tripple black bit different to my 06 GSA.
This one has a bmw alarm set to auto arm and then disarm when key is in ignition that's good an all but have to leave ignition on with kill switch off to clean and maintain etc

How on earth do i turn the alarm off completely and not have it come on again can anyone give me an idiot's guide the manual is all but useless

Info in the manual as stated above - a few button presses and a key turn and your sorted

You will need to reprogram the Alarm so that it does not auto activate.

I have the same alarm, and I have to press the fob button to arm the alarm, which is a better option.

Reprogramming starts at page 11 in the manual. Anyone trying to explain it would just repeat the process in the manual anyway, as you have to follow the sequence.

It's dead easy.

1. Arm the alarm with the fob (LH button with the diagonal ribs).
2. Within 3 seconds, press the same button on the fob again. You'll get 3 more beeps out of the system.

That's it. You can move the bike etc. Good for train/ferry/trailer etc or cleaning :-)

To undo this and return to 'normal' put key into the Ignition and get another beep out of it.
