drive up to Northumberland and you can try mine to see how bad it is, so much so that I rode it home after its first service and put it away in disgust and went back to using my 2011 tc gsa
p.s I know how to ride a bike and change gear, I have been riding bikes since 12 years of age and on the road since the age of 16 and passed my test at 17 in 1980. I have owned 30 plus bikes, used to do outriding for test days for local dealerships, have passed job bike courses and ridden bikes from the 70's right up to modern tackle, owned a r1150gs for 9 years and ridden bmw's from the r75/5 up to the newest stuff k1600, f800 , r1200 r etc plus 3 different lc models and mine has a unacceptable change from neutral to first and even worse from first to second (unless the bike is travelling less than 16mph and at tickover).
I have taken to actually starting it in first with the clutch in to stop it going into first with a bang, as for second it is the only vehicle I have ever ridden or driven( including hgv's, plant and tractors ) , where it will not physically engage second gear from neutral without the fear of damaging the box as most of the time it will not even engage unless you are willing to put a large amount of pressure onto the lever and ignore the non meshing gears and force it in (which I am not)
