My first Thread - I need some help!

Picked up my brand new GS TB from Allan Jefferies on 25/4. They transferred the BMW Aux (Fog) lights, plus fittings from my 14 model year GS LC to the new bike.

When I got home I noticed the LH aux light (as you are sat on the bike) was on all the time. With Day Time running lights, dipped lights it was there blazing away. The switch did put both lights on as per the manual when the day time running light was off. Fiddled with the settings and tried everything I could think of and the light just stayed on whilst the bike ignition was on. I mentioned this to AJs sales who said "don't worry we'll sort it out at the first service".

I took the bike in on 12/5 for it's first service and noticed the techs doing a lot of head scratching. After a few hours the service bloke said the problem had them and BMW stumped and asked me to leave the bike so they could do some fault finding. I was given an R1200R as a loaner while they fixed it. Two days later a call from AJs saying they still hadn't located the fault. BMW customer services pretty much said "our techs are highly trained and the dealer will sort it out for you". Humph.. feeling a bit peed off at this stage. Otherwise the bike runs sweet as a nut.

So here I am 16/5 without my GS TB rapidly and losing confidence in BMW and AJs techs ability to sort this out. This is where you forum experts come in.

Please, please please, has anyone any ideas what could be causing this? AJs and BMW seem to have tried everything, expect a full new of kit, so sort this out!

Thanks

It would seem a simple task to test a new aux light set (including harness) on your bike - if the same problem then it is surely a faulty main wiring loom.

Surely BMW can look at the PLC (computer) and tell whether the output to the light is on all the time? If it is then it's either a software glitch or a failed output. If the output goes off but the light stays on then it's a wiring issue.

Victor Meldrew moment - I don't believe this has taken two days of testing to discover....

The switch that shows OK when tested was replaced and ta dah! the lights now work as they should do!!

I think the dealer was looking for an obscure fault when it was a simple fix all along!

Thanks to those who have had a head scratch and suggested things to try, much appreciated.
