Just a question, some of you folks may have the answer to on BMW dealer Warranty.

How is the dealer warranty affected after fitting after market accessories ,lights GPS etc?

I have heard various reports and am reluctant to add any items not bought and approved by BMW.

If an original component fails directly or indirectly as a result of your fitting or using a non-approved accessory then you won't be covered. So if you fit a GPS or additional lights and wire them incorrectly and this causes failure of standard parts of the bike's electrical system (battery, ECU, wiring etc) then you're on your own when it comes to sorting out the problems. However the warranty won't be affected just by these items being (correctly) fitted.

If your gearbox self-destructs while you're using a non-approved GPS, for example, you won't have a problem warranty-wise since the two aren't related!

Obviously any accessories that you add yourself won't be covered by the warranty, although items that your dealer adds (luggage, for example) might be - you'd have to check with them.

As long as you're sensible in terms of what you fit, and fit accessories according to the manufacturer's instructions you should be fine.
