BMW Dynamic Brake Light introduced for 2016 motorcycles

It pains me to say this, it really does, but the KTM 1190 has had this since launch.:hide:D

Surely that could be retro fitted as only being operated by some kinda pressure switch or linked to the abs...? I like the idea of them, I see an audi rs5 slam into a porsche in Germany looked great from the rear as it hit it with all the brake lights flashing! :-)

I thought flashing rear brake lights were illegal in the UK? :nenau
Nope my 2012 car has them as standard.

Why would they retro fit when they want you to buy a new bike. Same goes for the dynamic abs that they are 3 years late in fitting to the GS.

I personally think that anything to create more visibility and awareness is good - however seeing a young girl rear-end another car whilst sitting texting on the M25 - is definitely an eye-opener.... but then again.... sitting behind a bunch of cars that are all nose-to-tail is not an option and why a bike is so handy! :)

Would love to find out whether anyone here would be interested in some of these units to retro-fit to their bikes...?

Having followed GSgal on her Dakar, which was fitted with a flashing brake light, I can tell you that it is as irritating as shit...

Was this a permanent flashing brake light? They are only supposed to flash in an emergency/hard braking situation so should rarely activate.

It doesn't flash under normal braking, only when it considers the criteria to be an emergency

I understand there is an option to fit a microphone in your helmet and if you shout "Oh Sh1t" it activates

If it's the same as the KTM system then, AFAIK, you won't able to retro fit as it's operated by accelerometers that are part of the dynamic/cornering ABS system so you'd need the later ECU for it to work.

With the KTM's it's a £30 'extra' (on the early ones, it may be standard now?); all the hardware/software is there already, you pay for it to be activated.
